The Bay 12 Worldbuilding Game
« on: January 19, 2013, 11:13:28 pm »

So, Bay 12, I know you can be extremely creative, so it's time to show that off. Let's create a world. Here's how it'll go: A person adds a detail about the world. We'll start with basic planet things, then move on to flora, fauna, religions, histories, and more. So, Bay 12, let's play.

I'll start:
The world is shaped like half a sphere. The bottom half is a wasteland, where nothing grows. It is possible to fall off the edges of the sphere.

The sphere now has a center of gravity. Spheres have no edges, thus you cannot fall off of the edges of the sphere.

The planet curves upward into a spiraling mountain, ending in a huge plateau. The spire nearly breaches space, but the particularities of the air keep the weather there bearable and the air breathable.

"OH GODS WHY? WHYYY?"

After a twenty minute session, the man is left white as a sheet, hairless and completely and utterly dead. James congratulates himself on a job well done!

The plateau is scarred by meteor strikes and solar radiation, while the planet directly under the plateau is forever shrouded in darkness.

The plateau has patches of iridescent moss growing on it.

The base of the mountain is surrounded by an ocean, vastly deep and black as tar.

The ocean is actually a massive multicellular organism, an amorphous blob evolved from the many organisms previously in the ocean that came to form one being.

It is gelatinous rather than liquid, and has a number of towering leviathans that stride across it's surface eating through their feet.

There are insectile parasites that feed off of the striders, and that mate upon the dense patches of lichen that line the shoreline of the gelatin.

A number of caves are bored in the spire, and in them live fierce winged lizards that come out from the caves at high noon, when the world is covered in shadow. Everything else hides then.

Except for the mostly blind, ever-flying fish-like creatures that skim across the top of the goo and eat it. As they have no sense of time or perception, they fly across the world in huge bands comparable to those on Jupiter, and they create the animalian base of the foodchain.

A strange cobalt-colored substance, comparable in stiffness to stone but in density to clouds, is formed. Tiny creatures live and form their own ecosystems on these blue clouds, floating high above the surface.

Larger wyvern like creatures float in the sky filter feeding upon those tiny creatures.
