There is a religious war going on between those shamans who use 3 tined forks and those who use 4 tines.

There was a clan that worshipped the flying lizards that stalk the night skies. One night they all stepped out of their caves as one. Most believe them to have been wiped out completely, though some whisper that they now live among the soaring saurians, sharing their dwellings in the great spire.

Surrounding the great spire, jutting up from the 'ocean' are smaller spires, spread out in a regular circular pattern.

The great flying lizards are actually a sentinet race called the Nightshrikers. They came from the stars when the planet was young and have been trapped there since.

Orbiting the tip of the spire - and the spire itself, mind you - is a natural satellite. It has a thick atmosphere of hydrocarbons, and therefore the ground isn't visible to those inhabitants of the planet, and appears to be a muddy green-brown color.

((What is the spite?))

This satellite's surface is mostly mud. The atmosphere rains volatle hydrocarbons almost constantly, with evaporation to match. The atmosphere thankfully contains little oxygen.

This satellite is very scantly inhabited by a race of sentient automobiles. Each year the younger generation brutally murders the older.

While killing the older generation the younger generation gets blind drunk on ethanol distilled from the air. They call this ritual a "family reunion"

The sentient automobiles have a hierarchy based on the ability to survive and win races during the worst of weather.

The sentient automobiles were in fact the remains of a nanite virus that came from another world. It has been crippled by another unknown nanite virus that promptly dissipated that bond it to one form.

Once every hundred years, the gravity on the planet reverses. When this happens, one brave goblin has to brave the depths of the tower to reach the planet's core and reset the fusebox.

The goblin that succeeds in this great task joins the pantheon of Fusiliers, worshipped by all goblins no matter their totemic loyalties. All goblins, except the worshippers of the small insectoids that feed on the moss. These believe that more moss would grow if the world was upside down.

When ever those goblins try to stop the gravity from being set right, they are promptly bitch-slapped out of the way. Their lunch money is regularly stolen by other goblins.

The goblins got so angry, they created a race of intelligent nukes, which tend to blow up when threatened or commanded to.
