So, dragon. Do you talk? The dragon looks at you with mild surprise, but the kind that you only see with someone that ran out of care a long time ago. He just looks tired, to be entirely honest. He briefly chuckles, a deep throaty sound accompanied with some smoke from his nostrils. He then gestures to his head, as if inviting you to his mind. You give it a shot, seeing how you can just leave if it gets ugly. Entering the dragon's mindscape with no trouble, you take a look around you. A predictable mindscape, but no less impressive. An absolutely huge cage, filled to the brim with gleaming gemstones and gold as far as the eye can see. Taking a look at one of the gems, you notice some smoke inside of it, or perhaps mist would be a better word. Looking deeply into the gemstone, you see what has to be a memory. From when he was nothing but a hatchling, even. A large, regal-looking dragon covering the "you" in the gem with a wing during a storm. Poignant, to be sure, but ultimately irrelevant. You wonder where the dragon is in this enormous complex of memories. Guessing from the deep hearty laugh coming from below you, vibrating the gold you stand upon, you are about to learn the answer to that question.
You make a trot for it, as the ground under you breaks open and causes a flow of gems and gold as the dragon rises up from his riches. You just barely manage to get clear of the flow and the dragon's head as he rises up.
So, little one. You wish to speak with one of the old ones? Well, here I am. The dragon's voice seems to shake the entire cave.
You regain you footing in the gems, and meet his interested look with one of irritation. Well, as far as a horse can emote that, at any rate.
That, I can see. On to the questions.Ah, you are an adventurer, then? Those always enjoy a good amount of questions. I find it somewhat hard to imagine anybody ever asked you anything. As we grow older and stronger, we lose our ability to talk. Too much fire in our bellies.Right... How did a great and powerful dragon end up captured by a bunch of alcoholic midgets?Shenanigans....fine. Why are you not breaking free? The honor of a dragon is easily bruised, and captured dragons are meant to wait for another to save them. That makes no sense. Why would you have to rely upon another!? It's to prove another would prefer your freedom to your captivity. We are supposed to live out our imprisoned days in shame, till we are set free by another. What would you do if I set you free.I'd thank you. That's it?Correct. Were you hoping for a mount?...No. Can you tell me about the other prisoners? The human and the dwarves are wild-kin. Dwarves that got separated from the mountain homes during the necromancer uprising and survived in the mountains. They are naught but savages, and occasionally steal children from nearby settlements.Ooh, expositionary dragon. They worshipped me as a god for a while, but after they found a clown I was forgotten about.Seriously?No. At any rate, the other things here are all just victims of the cage traps. Be cautious of the troll.Noted... I should go.Don't let me keep you.Re-entering the physical world, you see the dragon looking at you before going to sleep. Blunt bastard.
When you turn around you see the night troll looking at you with an appraising stare. Night trolls should be capable of speech, although it's a pretty hard to trust it.
