Don't Cave Dragons have the child raws since they're just a large lizard?

It's the real dragons that don't have the CHILD tag, but I'm iffy on my cave dragon. Sine they live underground have come with gobbo seiges they should just be regular creatures that can breed.

There's a potential issue: Even if you do the raw fiddling to get baby dragons in a reasonable amount of time, if the adults are enemies of your civ but the babies are not, wouldn't they kill the infant dragons as soon as they hatch?

Hey guys, I just came up with the idea of these genetically modified giants in power armor fighting aliens. Totally a homage to Halo, right?

If it is impossible to tame them, try building a drawbridge over an area that invaders move across. Have a huge drop below them that is so deep they will be stunned/killed when they hit the bottom. Put at least two dragons down there to rip them to shreds when they land.

I don't think this will work, the Gobbos brought them so they'll be friendly right?

Good question. In what capacity though did the Goblins bring them? As some kind of siege weapon? As part of a trade agreement? Perhaps the dragons will also work for humans and elves though.

Teensy-tinsy 3-day necro, but in regards to trying to breed the captured cave dragons, i've finally gotten time to play some DF and give it a shot, but so far no success.

Here's a screenshot of what i've tried so far:

The upper rooms, from left to right:

General breeding room, the birds actually lay eggs, and they hatch.
Male & female war cave dragons in the same room, with nest boxes.
Female war cave dragon, released into the room with nest boxes by opening the cage using a lever
Female war cave dragon, chained next to the nest boxes

In none of these cases do the dragons actually claim said nest boxes.
I edited the [BUILDING_DESTROYER] out of the raws and added [CHILD:1]

I'm thinking it's because they are considered enemies of my civilization they won't claim any nest boxes, or is something else preventing them from laying eggs?

Hmm. I wonder if you can get them to breed while still hostile, and then tame the kids.

May want to use cage traps if the mother feels like infanticide, though.
