It's a refugee shelter, it shelters refugees.

Remember that NPCs are still pretty questionable even with the latest additions, so be wary.

Yeah, the NPCs weren't all that bad, it was nice to see the groundwork of factions :P

The thing that REALLY got me there was the fact there was like NO food or drink not behind a wall of zombies. Led a bunch away from the restaurant to get killed by the guards in the center, but turns out one of the guards was a "arsonist" and naturally the whole building burned down around me. Again.

I'm considering a heavy investment in fireproof gear in future playthroughs. Granted considering my "cheat" character in heavy power armor died in a fire as well, I'm starting to wonder if its possible to not die immediately to a multi tile fire. This was a character that safely walked through LAVA, yet a fire killed him dead. Ugh, this game :P

Also, RNG what the hell did I do to you? Last new game the evac shelter spawned inside the city, and the fucking NPC I spawned with had a GODDAMN FLAMETHROWER. These things combined to make for a very fast death.
Yeah...every flamethrower-type is a reloadable molotov cocktail with 4 range.
The simple flamethrower is a deathball of fire and gasoline.

... Why was there a police bot inside my closed-up (not boarded) house inside a small town?

It was inside the same bedroom that I had slept in three times already. :I

* Descan died trying to get rid of it.

Edit: There were a bunch of eyebots around, I'm starting to associate them with "oh god run away".

So, I got an electrohack CBM, but I already had a regular electrohack. The CBM says it can "damage my circuits." Does this mean it will damage/destroy other CBM's, or will it just cause me pain on failure?

You mean the fail chance? If it fails, it can cause injury, cause you to lose other CBMs, or just break. There might be other things but those are the one's I've seen. So yeah be careful not to lose all your CBMs with a failed installation.

Nah I know about the adderall-and-coke fueled installation binges for CBM's. The electohack CBM itself (it's called fingerhack) has its own message that says if you try to hack with it and it fails it can "damage your circuits." It seems kind of steep to risk losing CBM's when you can just use a regular electrohack but that seems like the kind of cheap shot the game would take at me, so I wanted to make sure before I tried out the fingerhack CBM.

EDIT: ah, according to this:

http://www.wiki.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?title=Fingerhack

it just drains your power. I should have checked there first but so much of the wiki is straight copypasta from in-game. Sorry.

Wow, shit hit the fan when I started driving in the experimental. SOMETHING happened, and I kept getting spammed by items with a message like

r:(one of the items in my inventory) 43985675>3598367293

or something like that.

And if I hit something I would get spammed debugs saying "Duration 20" and then i would have to press space, then press another button, then it said Duration 19, then space, then another turn passes and duration 18....You can see how annoying that was.

So, how do you scroll descriptions when you're looking at an item, again?

You probably accidentally enabled debug messages. I think the shortcut is Shift+~ or something.

Generally when debug messages appear your best bet is to save and reload. That USUALLY fixes it.

You make the game screen bigger. ;3
Thanks again to Micro for answering my query there.

I found that setting initial points to 12 and trait points to 14 results in a far less dickish gameplay experience than on defaults. I've burnt out half a dozen chars today before I changed it to that (12/14 is my usual setup, but I've felt like venting with a totally OP char so I set Initial Points to 1000 for one game).
