I have an idea. Instead of discussing which sword was or is better in real life let's just stick to which items are better within the game based upon their game statistics and leave history out of it.

We have way too many people here with PHD's in swordology.

HEY!
MYYYYYYYYY PHD is in swordchiatry, NOT swordology.

I found a barely functional APC, stripped it to pieces and built a smaller armored vehicle. When driving my new armored personal home I found another barely functional APC.

I am now thinking of building a huge mobile base. Has anyone done it?

Only if you can somehow have 3-5 layers of composite armor on the front, as crashing through cars and buildings can damage your vehicle.

Don't ever go after trees though. They are the demon spawn of Mother Nature.

Kinda a truth in television there. Well, in Cataclysm. Lamps are designed to be collapsible nowadays, but trees don't budge an inch when hit. You won't be able to mow down a solid oak with a car anytime soon without losing all your momentum.

So, according to Cata, every tree is ~*super speshul*~ solid oak?

I would take my chances hitting a tree 3 feet in diameter, than a solid concrete wall of a military bunker. Yet the former totals my humvee, while the latter barely scratches the paint.

I guess concrete needs a buff then. But given this is New England the trees are prolly thick. At least they were in Virginia when I lived there. Also, even a 3 foot in diameter tree is pretty solid.

Too bad that you can't build a vehicle that houses a smaller vehicle. I have tried to build a electric quad bike that drags or pushes a shopping cart but with how vehicles work right now it can't be done.

I would love to build a house sized behemoth that houses a smaller car for entering cities.

Could you weld the smaller car on and break it off afterwards?

Yeah but it wouldn't be the same.

Yes, but that was a car, probably made with reinforced aluminum. As opposed to a heavily armored APC. I'm not asking that they be completely nerfed, just that they have the possibility of being destroyed.

I thought you were talking about a humvee, not an APC?

A 3 foot wide tree would totally total a humvee, you'd be a LOT better off driving into a brick wall or something, to be honest.

A three foot wide tree definitely trumps a concrete wall, though it probably loses to a steel beam. Concrete is concrete - an APC can shatter concrete on impact. A living tree, in the same circumstances, is much more likely to get uprooted than broken. Despite being a "basic" building material when cut down and dried, living wood is strong stuff.

Though I wonder, how much strength, impact-wise, do trees even have? In the game, I mean?

edit: and the answer is... none! They're set as unbreakable. Time to alleviate that.

Find the entry for "t_tree" in your terrain.json and replace everything from it to the apple tree below, with the above. I'll test it out right now, but theoretically it should work.

Yeah, trees aren't going anywhere fast, no matter how hard you hit them. There's a reason you cut them down and why removing a stump is so fucking hard.
