Then again, the game might be too.

New map for defense mode. Swamp shelter.  Start in a somewhat fortified evac shelter surrounded by inpenetrable swamp and river.  The game spawns large numbers of swamp creatures instead of Zeds.

I have to ask, in the most recent experimental version, are vehicles fixed? I mean, NPCs are quite stable given that I've a BFF now and done quite a few missions for her (sans the random teleporting she does every save game-loadup or the lack of 'stay here until I return' order. I did like them going into the vehicle and riding with you if there was an extra seat) but vehicles...cause crashes after I start em up and make them move.

:/

Thought it was a bit silly.

Skill 0 in survival feels like you could see a strawberry just sitting there in a bush and go "nope, not edible".

...do people like that exist?

Well, my mutant martial artist is finally getting underway. I just picked up horns and a scorpion tail to go with my centipede style.

A couple questions on attacking now, since it's a bit unclear:

Any tips on surviving? I seem to survive for a couple of days to the point where I can purify my own water, etc but die in supply raids for food.
Don't raid for food.  It comes to you.  If you settle on the edge of town, with Fields surrounding you, wolves, coyote, and bears will come towards you very frequently.  Often it's enough to simply step outside, pick a nearby animal, run at it, and eat it.  This will also give you plenty of opportunities to get well-dressed in furs or chitin.  If you can find an anthill, those are endless food sources just on the surface, much less the eggs inside...

(Uh oh)

How big is the chance that a vehicle will already be filled with gas? Is it my bad luck, or are they all supposed to be on E, because since I got Romero I haven't seen a vehicle that wasn't.

They are all supposed to be very close to empty I think, though they often have 1% or 2% left, which is enough to let you siphon from a few wrecked vehicles to drive to a gas station or something.

I always did find it odd how a person could have 0 skill in something. Most people who aren't newborns will have a decent level of competence in a lot of things.

The best way to survive I've found is to take Poison Resistance and find a house near the edge of town, along with a swimming pool nearby.  You want to harvest the wolves and coyote from the house - on the edge of town you should have plenty of wildlife spawns - and make runs to the pool to fill your water - with Poison Resistance you usually don't throw up drinking raw water.

When you've gained enough skills, supplies, and/or courage, you can venture into the city.  One thing that'll help is to find sewing books, and leather clothing - study tailoring, then cut up the pants and jackets and try to make a leather trenchcoat at least - cotton clothing is meh, fur clothing has more warmth, and leather clothing offers more defense.

And get a wolf suit.
