And for the time without bras, women wouldn't have been so heavy-chest and also hunting.  It'd mostly be domestic tasks, like cleaning a recent kill rather than making a kill.  Plus a bra is incredibly easy to make.  A strip of raw leather wrapped around the chest.  Female crossdressers basically just wrap an Ace Bandage around the chest tightly.

Any comment on how vehicle dragging works?  In particular, what's the limiting factors on how much you can drag?

Wait you can vehicle drag? HOW DO YOU DO IT?

I want to take a shopping cart with me, but I can't because I can't drag it...

Capital g, it gives no indication you've done anything, but when you press a direction you'll grab a vehicle.  If you try to move something too heavy it'll tell you once you start pulling it.

Also, note that you can make 'vehicles' of various build.  Namely, you can put a gasoline tank on caster wheels (shopping cart wheels) and having a mobile gas tank.  Or water tank, since you can now siphon water as well.

I want to make a 3x3 of frames and caster wheels, put myself in the middle, and push around a mobile shopping-cart-fortress!

Well, my .6 character finally died off. He got swarmed by a spider while trying to pick up too many items. I...kinda figured the game would have prompted me to stop when I took damage, but I guess no. Shame, too, since I'd found a working car and was getting ready to explore the nearby towns.

So far I've had minimal luck in the current stable version. My most promising character was beaten to death my a zombie brute. The rest have all died within the first day while trying to get enough supplies to survive. I wish Evac shelters would at least be guaranteed to come with a few bottles of clean water or something. I swear most of my starting characters die off early because I'm forced to take risks to get water the first day.

Sadly, I haven't started a new character next to any of the towns I'd started in before, or this would be a lot easier. Hopefully my new character will do ok, but we'll have to see.

Go with rocks.
and throwing.
High Throwing + Rocks = Safe start.
Generally throwing is extremely nice.
Throwing Pointy Sticks furthermore is just plain badass.

Invest in Self Defense, and a few skill in Unarmed Combat, as well as Krav Maga.  It gets such FANTASTIC bonuses and they're all unlocked at level 4.  You can roflstomp your way through melee combat.

Yeah, been throwing rocks a lot. My current character has Crane style, which is working pretty well.

I just wish I had a better option for starting out that didn't involve a fairly standard build. I mean, I know I can pretty well stomp the game with a martial arts/archery character. That's what my last good character was. I just keep trying to do something different and it goes poorly, which is disappointing.

I thought I'd try starting with a crack addiction and playing toad style, reaping the rewards of a huge int bonus to armor. Apparently, standing around being hit, waiting for your armor to charge is not a winning strategy even when you have INT 25...

I gave a tried to Deon's tile and they're quite good, in the options i had to lower a lot the interface width/heights though as i couldn't see the interface with my monitor resolution.

But once done it's really nice as it was in the old Gremour's build, but NPC appears as red flower in the starting shelter (they appear correctly in the official experimental builds).

Dragging vehicles sounds interesting. Now if only there were mountable hitch balls that we could use to pull trailers. I know there's no functional difference between that and a flatbed truck... just aesthetics.

hehe, the npc_male and npc_female ids are set to tile 32. If you go into the JSON and change them to match the player_male and player_female tiles the red flower will be replaced with the player tiles :D

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

Well, actually there is. If you find a trailer hooked up to a truck (or on its own) you could add that to your working vehicle without needing any special tools. Plus, you could drop off the trailer at your main base while you go around if you don't want to haul it around, while in a truck you need to haul all of it all the time.

You know, there was a difficult collision detection thing when I was implementing this, and I had a simple solution that handled if the vehicle was in front of you OR behind you, then I thought to myself, what would the crazy users do to break this?
I want to make a 3x3 of frames and caster wheels, put myself in the middle, and push around a mobile shopping-cart-fortress!
Then I threw out the simple solution and made pushing a wacky doughnut vehicle work.  Thanks for proving me right.

Also... shopping cart with a turret, I'll have to check this out when I get home.

EDIT: avoiding double-post.
Not to open up the discussion again, but just to clarify some points:
Perhaps tiles could be partially generated based on their neighbours' content to create a smoother transition whilst aiming for a recognisably distinct 'border'.
Not generated, but we support "center" vs "border" tiles for seamless merging of multi-tile items (walls, furniture, etc) Continuity is provided by seamless terrain tiles underneath partially transparent furniture tiles.
Perspective could be considered.
The more advanced version of the above tile merging code alows for isomorphic tilesets, which we're planning on supporting.

cib wrote a 3d visualization system that looks pretty sweet, but isn't particularly playable.  Might revisit that when we have multiple z-levels visible.

Huh. I've never actually seen one of those. I'll keep a closer eye out next time.
