Seriously though, on training that skill if i t ever is implemented, I would suggest that when you read a book relating to the category, you have a chance to gain a 'You now know what x looks like' or something like that.

I'd probably just tie it directly into the PER skill personally.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Yeah, that was my original intention as well. But I'm no programmer, so I don't know what's easier to implement.

Gameplay > realism.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

Still, just make it so you can't identify pills at more than melee distance (so you actually need to walk over to them) would be ok I think.

I wouldn't mind. I don't normally go to pharmacies and rely on pills I find in houses.

Probably because I'm to scared to go deeper in the city.

Reading "To Serve Man" shouldn't  kill your morale if you have the cannibal trait.

Wait, we are getting worldgen options? Yessss. I'm just looking forward to the silly things we are gonna be able to do with this.

they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the raving confessions of a mass murdering cannibal from a recipe to bake a pie.
Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

I would play an endless megacity Cataclysm, reclaiming the world block by bloody block.
