You can go rambo on your infected wounds by applying your pocket knife(need a lighter too I think) :) Latest versions let you use the first aid kits or disinfectant too if you are lucky enough to find some.

I'm not sure if any of those work if you are at an advanced stage of infection.

Nope. If you're infected and you don't cauterize/disinfect it, you're on a death timer where you desperately need antibiotics or royal jelly. Not sure if there's anything else that can cure you. CBM: Blood Filter might be able to, but I'm not sure.

A med unit in the hospital should be able to help you out.

So, I've been trying to loot cities at night, yet I constantly get glomped by hordes of zombies regardless, and I'm making no noise.

Is there anything that I can use to increase my survival if I'm looting at night, that is easily found at the beginning of the game? Because Daytime is already a death sentence regardless.

Get the night vision trait.
Flashlights show where you are.

I don't use flashlights, that's the thing. No flashlights/breaking windows, just using the crowbar to get in and out, and I always get attacked by one zombie, which seems to draw even more...

I'll have to use the night vision trait next time, though.

No, you are making noise. Walking is unusally loud, since you're basically always running. Until sneaking gets implemented your character will only ever run or stand still. No inbetween.

The easiest way to deal with hordes of zombies is to go near an open or broken window and melee them as they come through. Make sure your torso isn't encumbered... look for fitting tank tops or under armor, and use stuff like messenger bags and a trenchcoat for storage instead of backpacks.

The window trick works on any uneven terrain, including stuff like fences, counters, shrubs, flowers, cars, etc. You're never far from something to beat a zombie to death over, anywhere that you go. Special zombies may pose a problem, as they'll spew acid/sparks/smoke/have tons of health oh god why is it so fast, but for normal infected you can kill hundreds doing this.

Last I checked crowbars made as much noise as breaking windows.
All i can say is hit the outskirts. And public works. Public works spawn no evil.

Ok, I'm doing pretty well with this character, but I'm trying to build a makeshift bed in an evac shelter and its asking me for a blanket.  Not a sheet (which I have) but a blanket. I went to a house and disassembled a bed with a screwdriver... and got 10 rags.  Which can be crafted into a sheet, but not a blanket.

What should I do?  The beds in houses seem pretty unsafe, given that I was attacked by about 4 zombies in the dead of night.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

You can find blankets around or you can make one out of I think 2 sheets with good enough tailoring skill.

Sleep in a car. They have magic air conditioning even without fuel last time I checked and with the doors closed and away from town there won't be anything that can get in to you.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

It seems weird that you can't use a sheet as a blanket...
