I'd shoot them in the butt and call it legs.
Good advice for life.

Is there a way to separate items into smaller groups? I really don't need to carry 12 bottles of water or 120 bullets.

Press 'd'rop, the number of items you want to drop, then the item's letter.
i.e., to drop 2 of 12 waters designated as 'a': d,2,a.

So since there is going to be a temperature system does that mean we will be getting Freeze rays and Freeze gas?

Well, considering that the temperature system is currently more like, "You feel a draft". Freeze rays are a whiles off, I'd think.

Contextual containers are sort of planned. I.E, items that provide volume only when wielded. So hobo bindles and pillowcases and burlap sacks and shit will be cool then.

This is my only remaining complaint with the game.  The customizable viewport and new spawn system have made it many many times less frustrating and more fun.  When I can easily stuff a bag with items and then drop/pick it up as needed, everything will be perfect.

Will contextual containers actually contain items, or just provide volume when wielded?  Like if you drop them, will you also have to manually select an assortment of items to drop along with the container, and then take a whole bunch of turns if you want to pick it all back up again?

On the topic of inventory, a couple suggestions:

It would be cool to have a quiver item to wear for arrows/bolts/spears.  Maybe similar to a messenger bag mechanic-wise.  Could be a common sporting goods store item.

Fruits/vegetables should stack.  I've been scavenging strawberries and blueberries a lot, and it's really annoying that after 4 strawberries, they're effectively taking up more space in my inventory than anything else.  This is not to further nag on the inventory management mechanics.  I just think those items should stack.

Odd, I already experience frost bite and heat stroke. I think it's fully implemented.

Mine has just said Cold non-stop from the beginning.  Doesn't matter what the temperature is or what I'm wearing.  I even installed an Internal Temperature CBM.  Still cold.

If you add enough layers it will change from cold. It just takes more than you expect.

Screw what Max Brooks says: getting a truck and mowing down zombies on a main street in a town is the best tactic. Constantly circle around in the main center of the town, mowing down as many groups of zombies as you can (especially brutes and ranged zombies, deal with those first and you won't have any trouble cleaning up), then mopping up the remains with a rifle or pistol. Any further trouble is going to be restricted to stragglers to best, if you spend a day at it. I call this tactic the "Reverse Vehicle Stampede".

My cocaine crusader is still going strong, even though he hasn't used cocaine since day 2.  Now on day 9.  Combat skills are pretty high.  Been manually cleaning out a small suburb by hand over the last few days, scavenging through every building as I go.  Building up other survival skills whenever I have leftover xp or time to read.

Found a couple military ID cards, so I went over to the nearby military bunker.  Never actually been in one before.  Holy shit.  I just found a room stuffed full of CBMs.  Pumped myself full of Adderall and am now sporting Internal Climate Control, Air Filtration System, Head Alloy Plating, Recycler Unit, Blood Analysis, Water Extraction Unit, and a Finger-Mounted Laser.  Now I just need to find a power source.  I have a Metabolic Interchange, but I'm not sure if I want to install it.  Can I uninstall it later if I find one I like better?

This is by far my best character ever, as sad as that is :P  Kinda excited.
