Intro
They were wrong. They had told us that the dwarves had been removed from time. And for a few thousand years, everyone believed them. How wrong they were. The dwarves were only removed from time for all these years. Suspended outside of time, they did not age and did not see the ages pass that the elves, goblins, humans, and us. Then the day came, the day that the construct that held them there finally failed. They warped back into the present within the grand chamber of the citadel that housed the machine. It was the only place that was untouched. All of the other citadels had been emptied by looters, adventurers, historians, and alchemists. The dwarves respected the historians and the alchemists for trying to learn of their technology. The looters were a different story.
Due to the looting of their citadels, the dwarves began a war. Those that had been trying to learn sided with the dwarves, along with many others who had constructed communities around the ancient citadels. The remainder sided against the dwarves. They were fools. The dwarves demolished the opposing empires and slew those that stole from their citadels. We remained outside of the war, preferring to observe rather than fight. It did come close a few times, but it was proven that the side opposing the dwarves had manufactured the situations so nothing came of it. It still amazes everyone that the dwarves, after thousands of years of stasis, and still managed to defeat their opponents with technology more advanced than theirs.
This upset has caused factions to develop. The first of these believe that magic has prevented the other races from reaching the technological ability of the dwarves, and should be completely forsaken. The second believe the opposite, that they must forsake technology and focus purely upon magic. The third believe a combination of both, that there should be a fusion of magic and technology. There has been an escalation in the conflict between the factions, non-violent at the currently, but some of the threats are getting overtly hostile. This may bring about another war, one that could put civilization in a tailspin, on that it might not be able to recover from. This will be the first game I have Gm'd, but I hope I'll do somewhat decently. In this game you will take the part of a character that belongs to one of the factions outlined above. Your actions will have far reaching effects that could send civilization into a downward spiral, or a glorious new age. I will need to approve your character. Nations will be posted when 3 people have joined, and the game will start sometime after. Updates will be sporadic at times, don't worry, I'm still there. I just might need reminding from time to time. By the way, if you want to find out which race is speaking above, you need to go searching. Also, if I am missing anything, please let me know. Finally, Think your actions through carefully, any action that is posted will be used, joke or no joke. You have been warned. The technological era is something akin to the early industrial revolution.
