Wanderers

______________________________________________________________________________

The sun glances across the surface of the rolling sands. The pocked and torn surface of the Liftruck's hull throws a rough reflection across the driver's exhausted face. He touches a control and the chassis eases downward. The old pilot turns his head slightly as if to say something, then pops the hatch and slides it roughly to one side. He drops from the cabin, his yellowed leather boots sinking into the ground as trudges his way up the dune he landed before. He reaches the crest and gazes out across the land he has so long called home, the land he has so long wandered….
______________________________________________________________________________

The players take the role of nomads living on a desert world. Their goal is to defeat the Bandit Lord (played by mentallama). He does not know your names right away, but he will come to fear you as word of your deeds spreads across the Greater Dunes. The Bandit Lord possesses great resources and a powerful army of raiders. Killing him will require the utmost cunning and a steady resolve, and perhaps a touch of luck.

Character Sheet---

Name: The one your parents gave you.
Title: The name your foes and/or allies will know you by. Ex. The Saviour of Kinesberg, Black Bullet, Chicken Chaser. Of course, for the first choice to make sense you'd have to rescue a town called Kinesberg first, but you get the idea. Your title can change at any time.
Ethnicity: Choose one - Hinkisian (Hinkis - The Southern Dunes. The inhabitants are renowned survivalists and merchants), Jovan (Jova - The Eastern Dunes. The inhabitants are all reliable craftsmen and skilled mechanics), Swastian (Swastia - The Northwestern Dunes. The inhabitants are famed for their cold efficiency and isolationism). This determines your starting point and cultural roots, but need not determine your character's personality.
Gender: M/F
Background: Why are you pursuing the Bandit Lord? Try be creative and stay away from common cliches if at all possible (he burned my village down/raped my wife/punched my dog in the face).
Appearance: What are you wearing? You're living in the desert, so keep that in mind. Functional apparel is acceptable and encouraged.
Primary: Make up a rifle and add flavour text to give it its own signature look. Camouflage, decals and decorations are permitted. No lasers, and no attachments for now. You can base it off of an existing rifle or your favourite fictional one, or even draw one yourself and drop a photo in there. You'll be fighting in the desert, so keep that in mind.
Secondary: A rare grenade, your favourite crossbow, whatever you like. Nothing too terribly overpowered if you please. If it IS overpowered, it will likely be broken or missing a key component. Just know that choosing a rocket launcher is probably a bad idea. You can also opt to have multiple weaker weapons, such as two pistols, or a bandolier with a dozens kunais on it. To sort of give you a yardstick, the ideal weapon is a submachine gun. Once again, you'll be fighting in the desert, so keep that in mind.

Roleplaying is encouraged if not expected.

[2] - Failure: Whatever you were trying to do, it didn't pan out.
[3] - Ineffective: Your action was successful, but it hardly made a difference.
[4] - Success: It worked, and with the intended results.

[6] - Pyrrhic: The action went as planned, but with unexpected side effects.
[Higher Than 6] - I Don't Understand: You are guaranteed to gain limbs, life, equipment, jobs, friends, dignity, etc. The value of the gain goes hand-in-hand with the amount of points above 6 that you have risen.

Finished!

---

Name: Madeline Hassik
Title: Ivory Shadow
Ethnicity: Swastian
Gender: F
Background: Madeline had the privilege of being born as a Princess. Her aristocratic life was good enough for her standards, alternating between relative peace and minor territorial wars. That changed when the Bandit Lord showed up, with the largest the Hassik Kingdom had ever seen. There was a raid, followed by a siege which lasted several days. The Bandit Lord eventually called it off, but not without giving the region a good pillaging. In the struggle, a number of peasants and soldiers died in the conflict, as well as massive amounts of property damage occurring. This was not unfamiliar to the people of the area, as there were previous battles in the past. However, Madeline's family....were all alive. Kind of make's sense with them being the nobility and all that they would get the most guards. The trouble was that the Bandit Lord made off with a lot of loot, much of it precious to the Hassik leaders. Jewels, bells, weapons, furniture, instruments, clothing and etc. were stolen, all of which had huge symbolic, economic, or spiritual importance to the land.

So, somebody had to go out and get it all back. All the common people had to stay to repair the damage. As for Madeline's family, her parents, while both relatively healthy, were in their 50's and in no shape able to make a fast-paced and violent reclamation of their belongings. Madeline's siblings were non-laborious and generally lame. Her only semi-able brother, Frederick, had broken his leg during the struggle against the Bandit Lord. It was unanimously decided that Madeline be the one to retrieve the Hassik treasure. Not only was she the most-able bodied and physically skilled, but she had become notorious due to her past acts of...."indecency", which brought a load of embarrassment upon her court. This journey would additionally give time for the people of the land to forget about Madeline's act, and restore her honor with embarking on a noble quest.

Appearance: Madeline has raven-dark hair and very fair skin. Her pigmentation is a rare sight, hence her nickname as "Ivory." Her eyes are brown. She is about 5-and-a-half feet tall standing with an athletic, slightly muscular build. Due to her build, clothing and preference to keep her hair shoulder-length or shorter, Madeline is androgynous looking, and can be easily mistook for a male at first glance.

Speaking of her clothing, Madeline wears a luxurious purple and black (the color of her family) cloak-like covering. Beneath it are much simpler garments. A common black shirt over and yak-leather pants. Around her waist is a swerving utility belt with all sorts of little tools and knacks she carries. She wears high-black military-styled boots. As for her head, she has two ruby earrings in the shape of the moon. Her lower face is covered with a tight-fitting custom bandana with the same color scheme as her cloak. Her most defining facial clothing, however, is that she wears a pair of large goggles with an orange tint.

Primary: Covodoi 23H. (Based off the real AK-47 rifle and it's variants.) The common soldier's assault rifle of her homeland. Nothing fancy about it, no scopes or grenade launcher attachments. It's not very effective at long range, but at close range it has a lot of stopping power, and can easily blow a large hole in your chest with a good shot. Because of it's sturdiness, also makes for a good melee weapon in a pinch. It is camouflaged in purple-and-black for her family's colors again, as well as make it hard to spot during the night.
Secondary: Silenced JRL4. (Based off the real life Luger Pistol)

Because trying to stuff Fate/Whatever's engrish and the title of a 17th century book on statecraft into Pokemon syntax tends to make the content incomprehensible.

Btw, what does "Post/pre-modern name" mean? :3
Not a clue. I meant to change that earlier when I noticed that it was confusing me while I typed it.

Secondary: A small set of pistols.
A set? As in a pair of pistols? Depending on how large they are you can have more (or fewer) than two.

Questions: a) Can I ditch my secondary weapon in favor of a surgery kit? b) Will ammo be a problem if I pick a more obscure rifle, like the AS-Val, over one with more widespread ammo, such as the AK-74 chambered for 5.45×39 mm?

PTW.

I can't play in any official fashion, but I'll happily take the position of the Bard chronicling the games exploits, if I can. Tell me if you're cool with that, Guin. :P

----

The so called 'Green Bard' is a legend herself, though a minor one-is it really one person, or many? No one can say...but the Bandit Lord has heard the name many times. Always she appears in the least likely of places-always she vanishes before she can be captured. A thorn in his side, surely-but no more than a pinprick. A minor irritant. A single spark.

Her last appearance was near the Bandit Lords own citadel, where she was reputed to have said the following...

"They say...the Bandit Lord is many things.

He is the shadow of a greater fear. He is the end of hope. He is the tumor in the old mans belly.  He is the reason you lock your doors at night. He is the cold hearth in winter. He is punishment for our sins. He is the herald of the fall of Man. He is the ugly scar on the face of the Madonna. He watches as we go to sleep. He is there when we wake. He is one who commands 10,000 bloody handed soldiers, and rules the hearts of many more. He is the rotted blight in a field of flowers. He is the wail of a grieving mother personified. He is the prying hand in the dead mans pocket. He is the darkness given will.

And yet for all that, he is still but a man.

And, a man can be killed."

Soldiers were dispatched, but no trace of her was found.
