Its like, 4c/kwh to generate*... I wouldn't call that expensive.

*of course, what you pay isn't all profit, there's the cost of building and maintaining the grid

Might be slightly more expensive on an alien world with no infrastructure.

Well my point was, it's easier to generate that it would first appear when you open your power bill, is all.

Actually it may be more valuable, but not really expensive since nobody expects a return on investment+profits, they' re just glad life support is working. :P

DF, Maia, etc are planned economies anyway. (DF experimented with capitalism, but we all know how that went)

If that picture was of a DF workshop, it'd be packed to the ceiling with chairs and tables and coffins and armour stands and shit that haulers haven't bothered to move in years.

So how will this workshop work by the way? Will it be the Dungeon Keeper style where they make random boxes and you have to plunk those down or more like DF where you order stuff and they pile it up in a corner... or will it all be abstracted and you merely click on something to be placed somewhere and then it will appear there after it's finished construction.

If the concept art is this good on average, it ought to be straight up used in loading screens. Take a picture like that add a stylishly slow moving, elegant 'loading...' text at the bottom right and its perfect.

Yeah. I love how that is 'concept art'. It's nicer than a lot of pure artwork out there!

A mix of things. Some of the larger objects are built on location with parts built in the workshop. Other stuff will be made in the workshop and carried to location. They might be carried by the imps or perhaps in crates by the colonists. I'm still not 100%, may change drastically as I work on it and find out what looks ok and what works in the context of gameplay.

Just a quick thought since its the first time i've seen it animated. The turret looks.. off. Too much apparent mass up top, legs too spindly and tiny. It looks like it should lurch over or wobble given how tiny the legs are. Drop the size a bit or make the base look sturdier perhaps?

The game speed is way off in the video. When I haven't broken the update speed they slowly grind back and forth and look far more rigid.

It's looking pretty darn stunning IMO.  Was that cloud cover I spotted?

Hey Simoroth, could you share a little more about how you're handling individual character's personalities and stuff?

Yeah sure. I'll write something up as soon as I've had a look at what I already have and my notes.

Sorry to pester, but I want to.

Yeah. The clouds have been in since before the Kickstarter. Really brings the surface to life. When the weather is in it should make things look awesome.

Still didn't get around to the character stuff. Been totally buried lately.

Agreed. Still, the video looks amazing and the engine looks fantastic Simoroth. :) Can't wait to get my mits on a rough alpha.
