(How come I did't learn any muddle-senses skills this turn? And only .24 sneaking?)
((It was 0.34. I usually won't grant spell xp for using the spell in addition to other training, unless you're splitting your time. A trickle is possible on a particularly nice roll, but don't count on it.

Background info: Mining operations around Medea's Stiletto are currently limited, and the only viable veins that have been found are of low-mid quality iron. Most weapons are spears and arrows; the giant mushrooms function acceptably as shafts and bows.

Have an opportunity to gain more favor.))

During a dinner early in the season, Lady Zirae and her apprentices are sharing a meal (Cuts of roasted giant beetle over mushrooms, lightly seasoned with part of her dwindling supply of spices appropriated from the south during more peaceful times). Shared meals with just the six of them are fairly common.

"I have decided to next focus on learning a spell to create weapons. Once finished, even the conspirators may see the futility in their actions, and surrender outright.
Conjurations work better with elaborate knowledge of the subject matter. I lack both the time and inclination to extensively study weaponry. I will teach the spell to any who spend the season doing so. My smiths and rangers will be made available for this purpose."

((Interesting. Now, to take advantage of this, would we research "Weapons" or "Spears" or "Smithing" or "Weaponsmithing" or what?))

The kitchenette mold free, you move on to the pantry. it's nasty in there. The bacon is grazing on the lettuce. The ham is having an illicit affair with the prime rib, The potatoes see all, know all. A rat in boxer shorts smoking a foul smelling cigar is banging on a cabinet shouting about rent money.

((A specific type [SPEARS] would be significantly better, but you would still see some benefit for general weaponry.
This training gives a synergy xp boost to combat training for the chosen weapon, if you wish to do so, but is mainly for conjuration.))

((Interesting... would it have any benefits outside those two?

And, how significant are we talking about?))

Begin studying bows & arrows, Use any spare time to begin research on a spell to see memories of people or animals around me.

((Smithing, probably? Weapon identification, if you for some reason need to know which spear is higher quality. I guess you'd be able to create minions with slightly better attacks, if you use conjuration/soul magic.
Significant enough that I'd choose to specialize, unless I wanted to be able to spontaneously turn unarmed soldiers into a mixed pike/sword/bow formation.))

You cannot research a tier 2 conjuration spell! Besides, Lady Zirae just said she's researching the spell itself. Try studying bows&arrows.

Sirra perked up. This was it! Of course, conjuring weapons...

Research Spears Weapons.

((Still thinking about this. >_>

I guess it might be worth asking what the difference, if any, between various weapon types is.))

EDIT2:

"A brilliant idea, Lady Zirae, but I must ask: Might it be more efficient to summon better materials and have your smiths work them to your liking?"

In a battle, I'll roll one random.org die. Prior to rolling, I'll decide how big the die is, and what chances each side has, based on whim and common sense.

"Perhaps, perhaps not. Unexpectedly creating weapons both of greater quality and quantity than a foe is able to field of either may easily shatter a foe's morale. Additionally, I suspect that, in the future, this spell would be well suited for emulating the works of the superior smiths to the south."

Sirra bowed her head in assent. "As you wish, Lady Zirae."

((Also I'm going for it. Sure it'd be faster and easier and more useful to just research one weapon type and stick with it, but what if I want to summon something with axes in the future? Or Lady Zirae wants swordsmen? Or we desperately need expertly crafted broken bottles for some vaguely defined barfight-related incident? What then, specialists?!))

Get back to researching View Object
((Arg, the way research limits worked really confused me these past two turns. I think I got it down now, but the exact wording was rather confusing)).

Hopefully there will be a turn this weekend, but don't bet on it. I really should draw for the weekly art thread first, but I need to procrastinate on that because. Monday at the latest.

It will be!

Sorry. Have a table if anyone's still confused.

The level of your school, the top row, will let you research a spell up to the level shown on the left. This is only an example, not the level cap. I have not yet set a level cap.

S    0  1  2  3
P 0  3  5  5  5
E 1  1  3  5  5

The Conspiracy calms down, and a new stalemate emerges. They seem to have a new plan, but they're keeping it absolutely silent.

Lady Zirae decides that there's still time; her spell needs to be as powerful as possible. She spends the season learning more about conjuration.

Albrecht learns more about Soul Magic. He thinks he could now almost-sorta faintly sense when he is within a few feet of a disembodied soul as powerful as a person's. He's not certain how to test this without being very close while killing someone while meditating, and he might just imagine it because he expects it.

Thranduil spends the season learning about bows and arrows.

Sirra spends the season learning most of what Lady Zirae's smiths know about weaponry in general. She announces that Sirra has proven herself, and that she may now claim a personal agent, reporting directly to the lizardwoman. ((See note at bottom)) [Retcon: Joined in with training rangers last season for bonus xp.]

Jamgeon makes great progress on Muddle Senses. ((Please choose a focus for the spell.)) [Retcon: Joined in with training rangers last season for bonus xp.]

Ardrek makes good progress on View Object, and learns more about Divination in the process. He also figured out a way to train himself to track multiple divinations.

A handful of rangers are cleared for service.

Split my time researching bowŁ&arrows and a spell to read minds/memory's of animals also make a request of the lady.

"My lady may I have a servant? I would like to devote my time to magic not research and with a servant I could teach him magic then use him to do the research while I work on the magic or other tasks, I can be of much more use to you with an assistant."
