((OOC: This is, essentially, the RP thread-something to do between missions for players who are not currently on mission.
I'll try to run an action for everyone a day, or mini actions as often as I can. If you want a spot in the game, here's a nice place to put down your sheet and introduce yourself. ))

Situated in scenic ~CLASSIFIED~...home away from home for the defenders of humanity. Located deep underground to avoid Alien and Conventional Detection systems, it's completely self sufficient in many degrees-hydroponic gardens provide vital food, water is drawn from protected cisterns and geothermal energy taps supply the massive power requirements of the base-most products are made on site, and amenities are occasionally available-though not officially. There is only one access tunnel leading to the surface-it's use is highly restricted.
There's laboratories, workshops, medical bays, armories, radar arrays and the vulnerable heart of the resistance-the X-Command Center, where the Top Men decide how the war will be won-or lost. Everything X-COM needs to fight.
The average X-Com Agent will be more familiar with both his living quarters, where he spends his time on personal pursuits, and the Hangars, where the birds are launched on missions.
All in all, enjoy your stay. Welcome to X-COM HQ.= Accessing Mission Records =Mission 1/Operation Golden Calf

You all arrive at the base, blindfolded, having no idea where you are. A woman at the entrance takes off your blindfolds.
"Welcome to X-Com. Please follow me"
You follow her down long, dark hallways, the minimal light being emitted from old fashion florescent lights on the ceiling. Various chatter flows into your ear, some about work at the base, some about the aliens, and some about what they're going to do on break. The woman stops at a steel wall, and blindfolds you again.
You hear sounds of machinery and are guided once again, blindfolded. She removes your blindfolds once more, and you find yourselves standing in front of an open room. Two men, of high rank judging by their attire, are debating passionately over a holographic table. The table seems to be centered on a small UFO flying over a city.
"There are UFOs flying right over major cities and we don't even try to stop them! What do you think this will do to PR!?""Sir, we can't just fire nukes at them! As I said before, the UFOs are highly advanced. Their ECM systems are centuries ahead of ours. Our nukes would miss and LAND on the major cities. What would happen to our PR then!?""They're mocking us! We can't jus- Oh. Recruits. I'm Commander Grant, and this over here is General Weaver. We have a situation.Grant waves you over and adjusts the holograph. It zooms out, showing the entire Earth, and then he zooms in on a blinking red area. The red area is a suburb in California, U.S.
"Ok. See this building?" he says and points at a standard two story house.
"It's been taken over by alien scum. We don't know how many aliens there are, but they've taken a hostage. A little girl. The little girl has been on national television for hours, pleading through a window that we "bring our leader". Our techs analyzed some of the video and we have reason to believe the little girl has been brainwashed, maybe even under control of the aliens. We have to rescue her, and there is no way in hell we are bringing the world leaders to this suburb for the aliens to massacre.
A map of the house has been uploaded onto your wristpads. We have a police surround, and someone will be there to brief you further. Good luck troops. Dismissed"((Arrows represent doorways))
General Weaver walks out with you and addresses you.
"Your primary objective is to kill the aliens and take the technology they're using. We've heard they're using some kind of shield. This will determine mission success or failure, and whether you get paid. Your secondary objective is to save the little girl. Our public relations will go down the tube if she dies. Save her, and we'll be sure to give you a bonus.
As always, try to keep collateral damage to a minimal"Operation Golden Calf all but a failure, and reflected very poorly of Xcom-many eyes were upon us, and they were disappointed.
While a single Alien Invader was neutralized, the other escaped with their technology. it costs the life of an Xcom agent to friendly fire and the life of an innocent hostage, along with several police officers-all easily preventable losses.
It is this agents recommendation that we practice teamwork tactics with our new squads-simple communication and planning would have yielded far better results. Xcom is supposed to be the best-if it does not show it can deal with Invaders in a manner any better than local police could, we will quickly find our program in dire straits.
The words of Commander Grant explain it better than I can.
Failure. The little girl is dead and the aliens, with most of their tech, escaped. This is a nightmare for PR. We already have some governments starting to question how we operate. This can do no good for establishing trust in our agency.
The only good news is that you recovered an intact alien corpse and three alien artifacts. You'll each receive two credits for this, but I expect better performance next time, agents", he says, putting stress on the last word. With that, he closes the channel, leaving you once again to your thoughts.
Mission 2/Operation
= Accessing Personnel Databanks =Those agents currently in the field, battling the alien menace. Most of them spend at least 24 hours before the mission isolated from the rest of the base, undergoing a battery of tests and inoculations.
~No Agents in Field~
Agents in between missions are generally given freedom to do as they like...within reason.
1. Name : Kathryn Summers (Dwarmin)
Stats : STR 2 DEX 0 END 1 INT 2 WILL 0
Skills : HVY 2, AUX 1
Bio : A combat engineer from the US military, she gained the attention of X-COM during her early years when she wrote a research paper on the potential structural weakness of a saucer shaped UFO based on scientific reasoning of it's construction, without the aid of the then classified information-this was before Dubai ever happened. Giving she'd been literally blowing up Aliens in her imagination years before, Kathryn was a natural recruit to the program.
2. Name: Andrew Mallner (Greenstarfanatic)
Stats: Strength: 1, Dexterity: 2, Endurance: 0, Intelligence: 1, Willpower: 1.
Skills: Auxilary: 2, Close-Quarters: 1.
Bio: A criminal on th run from the Russian Federal Government, Andrew came to the US(?) to hide. He spent his years hacking into other systems, until he ended up hacking into a strange system, coded in a language with symbols he had never heard of or seen before. He shut down his computer after feeling a huge force surrounding him. He forgot bout the incident, until he caught wind of the happening in Dubai. He finally realized what he had done, and decided his skills could be used for something...not-evil...and stuff. He applied for X-Com, and was graciously accepted for his experiences.[/b]
3. Name : Ria A. Javier (Tiruin)
Stats : STR 1 DEX 2 END 1 INT 1 WILL 0
Skills : SNP 2, SIDE 1
Bio : Before being drafted under the banner of X-COM, Ria was part of the Scout Ranger Regiment in the Far East where she took part against the internal struggle with rebellion and guerrilla warfare. The country she hails from was known to be a divided land, due to the constant threat of terrorism and it's ilk.
Nevertheless, the change of scenery was only to be a blessing, as it gave Ria more time to devote to the studies which she missed during her period of service. Bird-watching and drawing are two of the most important things to-do for her in a day, along with admiring the scenery and the study of human anatomy.
4. Name: Johann Handler (GUNINANRUNIN)
Stats: STR 4 DEX 1 END 0 INT 0 WILL 0
Skills: Heavy Weapons [2], Auxillary [1]
Bio: A former German Special Forces officer hailing from a long line of political magistrates. Johann is focused on getting the job done, and concerns himself with little else outside of his work. His training is his life, and he allows nothing to stand in the way of his singular goal of seeing the mission through. He's not nearly as tough as he looks though, and his serious demeanour masks a soft side.
5. Name: Ed Carr (Remalle)
Stats: STR: 0 / DEX: 0 / END: 2 / INT: 1 / WILL: 2
Skills: Sniper 2 / Auxiliary 1
Bio: After distinguishing himself in basic training with his sharpshooting skills, PFC Carr was sent to the UNA Psionic Potential Program, which he graduated from two years later as one of the most promising potential psions the program had ever seen. After that there was only one place for Ed to go - X-COM.
6. Name: Alexandre L'Cielle (Spinal Taper)
Stats:/STR 0/DEX 1/END 1/INT 2WIL 1

6. Name: Lake Taladar (Toaster)
Stats: Str: 0 Dex: 4 End: 0 Int: 1 Wis: 0
Skills: Rifle: 0 Side Arm: 1 Close Quarters: 0 Heavy Weapons: 1 Sniper: 0 Auxiliary: 1
Bio: Lake trained as a civilian demolitions expert, but found his way into the ranks of the private military corporation Hawke Defense after his knack was discovered. His service there was recognized by the X-Com recruitment effort, and he was welcomed into their service. Lake hopes this will give him an opportunity to further his knowledge in the field of controlled destruction.
7. Name : Carinthir Targelion (Mesor)
Stats : STR 0 DEX 0 END 1 INT 2 WILL 2
Skills : CLose range 1 Side arm 2
Bio : A former soldier he volunteered for testing and was then experimented on to bring hes psyionic powers out after testing he decided to go to the X-Com to put these powers to use.
8. Name: Jay Cin (JacenHacen)
Stats: 3 Int, 1 Will, 1 Dex
Skills: 2 Aux, 1 SideArm
Bio: Jay is a former Army private, selected for his intelligence and skill with electronics and mechanics. He's very shy, and tends to avoid crowds. He has an opposed stance toward cursing and drinking, and is a failure at hard labor, preferring to think tactics than lift a minigun.
9. Name: Aria Halgrey (Ironyowl)
Stats: Str 0, Dex 1, End 1, Int 2, Will 1
Skills: Rifle 1, Side 0, Close 0, Heavy 0, Sniper 0, Aux 2
Bio: Aria was a student specializing in biology when word got out that her planet was under attack by aliens. Her reaction to this was decidedly nonstandard- she saw it as a golden opportunity to harvest the invaders, learning all their secrets and absorbing all their strengths. Her... enthusiasm, unique outlook, and intelligence made her of interest to certain parties within X-COM, and after some basic training to ensure her vague competence as a soldier, she was included in the program to help diversify the roster and advance the agenda of learning more from the invaders first, completing other objectives second.
10. Name:Jackson Star (Werty 892)
Stats:1 DEX 2 INT 1 WILL 1 END
Skills:2 AUX 1 RIFLE
Bio: After surviving the massacre at Dubai, the hacker/mercenary came to the UN and tried to sing up for the program. He was accepted, to become the team "Techie"
Kills: 1 Sectoid, 1 Friendly
11. Name: Theodor Adler (Caellath)
Stats: 1 Str 1 Dex 1 Int 1 Will 1 End
Skills: 1 Rifle 1 Close Quarters 1 Sniper
Bio: Joined the army due to his family's pressure and after a short training was then dumped into X-Com due to the fact so many died quality started to become a problem and quantity started to seem useful. Aside from that, first drills seemed to find him with a reasonable combat ability and flexibility that could keep him alive for at least more time than some of the recruited soldiers.
12. Name: Moe Johnson (NESgamer190)
Stats: [STR 0] [DEX 3] [END 0] [INT 1] [WIL 1]
Skills: [RIFLE 1] [SIDEARM 1] [CLOSE QUARTERS 0] [HEAVY WEAPON SKILL 0] [SNIPER 0] [AUXILARY 1]
Bio: (Hit with a writer's block here, but here goes nothing.) Stuck running from various thugs within his hometown, Moe's constant retreat had made him a fair runner to avoid being held at point blank. Although he hadn't been successful at getting a job, once he knew of X-Com and their purpose, Moe knew that he'd rather deal with extraterrestrials while well-equipped, as opposed to fleeing thugs unarmed. He seemed to be the equivalent to old X-com cannon fodder, but every individual counted, so Moe was enlisted.[/b]
13. Name : Kane Wilson (Monkeyhead)
Stats : STR 1 DEX 1 END 1 INT 1 WILL 1
Skills : CQ 1 HVY 1 AUX 1
Bio : An ex-MI6 field agent, Kane was transfered to X-Com as he was considered a liability - one too many "all the enemy were shot sir" scenarios was the straw that broke the camels back. He is proficient at stealthy CQ combat, but tends to favour the "shoot first, second and third, and whatever is left standing gets shot a fourth time" method. A career of accessing systems and improvised escapes has allowed him to develop some serious combat flexebility in terms if equipment and vehicle use, and turned him into a fast learner.
Men and women of all nations and creeds work side by side here-engineers, scientists, doctors, psychologists, soldiers. From the simple Research Assistant to the feared Head of Interrogation, all can find their place here.
International Diplomatic Liaisons
France/Abello Laome
Well liked at the base-despite her countries lack of participation in X-COM. Shes' quickly become a top of the line instructor, and runs the VR room for new recruits. She's a brilliant programmer-and has been known to design devilisly difficult combat scenarios.
Owner of the Bug Hunt Bar and Grill
Maggie
A sweet looking Southern girl who runs the Bar that serves the entire base-at a fair deal better than field rations. She actually owned the land and a Bar of her own on the land X-COM HQ was to be built on, and raised so much Hell at them tearing it down they let her run the Bug Hunt inside the base, which suited her just fine. She hears a little bit of everything that goes on, and its friendly enough to new blood to guide them around-and sprinkle a few rumors, just to shake things up.
Recruitment Agents
Aribel Weston
A likable woman with a bit of a dark side, she's working hard to bring in as much talent as Xcom can handle. Currently Ed Carrs handler-due to his Psi powers, she has been instructed to keep an eye on him.
Dew
An American businessman and politician with connections to PMC's-Xcom tolerates him because he donates generously and has access to highly skilled manpower. His true motives for supporting Xcom, aside from mutual self preservation, are unknown.
Security
Barry Royal
An unlikable Security officer who has delusions of Grandeur and Heroism-he's not that bad of a guy, and does in fact do a good job, but is extremely insensitive to others feelings and unflinching while enforcing the rules.
Caruthers
A Cpl. and an armory officer serving in the base, he's almost always on hand for emergencies-those he's been very distracted lately...
Head of Expermental Weapons
Gerome Blue
The enigmatic weapons tester for X-COM's Ex. weapons division, he oversees the fun part-testing them out in field and range. He enjoys his work, and often employs others to test the effects-and even has been known to let certain weapons slip out of his hands, if the agent likes it enough. He's sort of dorky, but in a good way.
Medical
Dr. Leif
A believer in better living through chemistry, Dr. Leif has been pioneering his Izo Combat Ampule Drug for use in the field.
Dr. Greenmore
Head of Psychology for the base, he's got a fair amount of pull-and a keen eye for damaged souls.
