"And can we vent any boarders which seem to be in these isolated regions, then? After...doing your security system."
Mark all but jumps out of his seat when you suggest piercing the ship's hull.

"Chhh please to be keeping ship intact! Venting mutants we, using airlocks only. Then boarding soldier from rest of fleet, clearing ship deck by deck. Very important keeping hull undamaged. Being very very very careful even destroying turrets."

One does not need to be an expert in alien emotions to detect the panic in his voice.

Kaylee looked at Avens' channel with concern. How could two Mechs clear this situation up?

She informed the General of the situation before continuing.

"Either we risk blasting their turrets for our own survival, or chance a spearhead into the ship and clear it that way -- vulnerable to incoming fire.

"Any ideas, Avens?"

Whichever her superior would decide, she would go for it. This was a precarious situation, and most likely, unsalvegeable if left to wait for reinforcements if they hesitated. Boarders on any ship meant great harm, now even more so with the idea of...survivors, young or not, judging by the alien's voice.

In the meantime, scan the ship.

"Wait, so you don't have any "free" airlocks at all? As in, ones without any innocents between them?"
"Upper decks, yes. Once turrets deactivating, opening airlocks, venting mutant. Problemless. But, big ship. To venting all mutant, meaning great damage."

"Many delicate machinery in ship. Hoping still safe from mutant. Keeping safe when destroying mutant..."
He pauses, then waves his hand dismissively "Chh, meaningless, forgetting. Please to be deactivating turrets. Taking care of rest, we. Paying greatly, we."

Seeing the weaponry of the Grey Mech online, Kaylee decided that Avens was heading for the destruction of the turrets to ease their advance.

"Mark, we're going to aim for the turrets that are near one of the open ports on your ship, leaving the rest. We plan to insert ourselves through that open port that you've sent and begin clearing our way to the bridge from there.

"Kaylee, out."

Commence turret-destruction, followed by a rush attempt at the open ports along with Avens.

If possible, only fire at any incoming projectiles and evade the rest.

Modifying the genetically modified was risky business, and Doctor Karloff had no taste for such things anyways- His father had been a napoleonic man, in more ways than one, and he had suffered for it throughout his life. It was never a good idea to reduce his breeding stock, but, then, these were no good for breeding purposes, anyways.
He would need to have them executed. Perhaps it might replenish his food supplies, as well.

Meanwhile, the others would be put through a series of tests to find the traits he desired. This would take some work. Then, then perhaps, he would introduce himself to the survivors over a video feed, and inform them of the grand role they would play in humanity's evolution.

-Have the genetically modified prisoners quietly removed from the holding cells and slain. Their bodies are to be used to make food paste!
Then the tests begin:
1) The remaining prisoners are to be put through a number of tests for physical aptitude: The shortest and most physically fit, with a focus on agility over strength, 25% are brought to a separate holding cell, labeled Group Beta. Those who don't make the cut are labelled Group Alpha.
2) Both groups are put through a variety of tests for sensory aptitude, searching for the following traits:
-Largest pupil dilation in low light settings.
-Quickest pupil dilation in low light settings.
-Most capable auditory abilities in low light settings.
The best of Alpha (25%) from test 2 are split into a third group: Delta. The best of Beta (25%) from test 2 are split into a fourth group: Gamma.
3) Group Alpha is converted into food paste, and the population levels of Beta, Delta, and Gamma are reported to the Doctor.

After Phase 1: Alpha Traits (75%), Beta Traits (25%)
After Phase 2: Alpha Traits (50%), Beta Traits (~24%), Delta (25%), Gama (~6%)
After Phase 3: Alpha Traits (0%), Beta Traits (~24%), Delta (25%), Gamma (~6%)
Estimated Breeding Stock (Nongenetically Modified) Loss: 50%

After leaving the hospital, Magnus returned to the election summit, slightly late. Once there, he made no public statement at all, but voted for Hayes with a certain confidence. He then proceeded to give a meaningful look (the infamous "Jarnhand stare") at the other members of the Asgardian Confederacy - the eight planetary governors who shared the Vanaheim system with Asgard. Although he said nothing, the meaning of that silent exchange was clear - he expected them to vote with him.

Magnus votes for Hayes, and tries to convince the members of the Asgardian Confederacy to vote with him

Find Bubblegum.
[9] When you find Bubblegum, she's holding a Rivet-gun, using a drill attachment to drill a hole in order to bolt a thick sheet of metal to the wall. She glances back at you, for a moment, biting her lip, her eyes hidden under her goggles. She rivets the metal to the wall with a huge rivet, handing the gun over to someone else.

[4] She approaches, eyes still hidden as she gestures for you to follow her somewhere quiet and you do, slipping into a back alley. She brushes some sand off of her new grey army shirt.

[6 vs 5] She suddenly pushes you against the sandy adobe wall, muscles adding a little more force than necessary.

[2] [4 vs 4] She then presses forward, pulling you into a deep kiss, pressing her thin body against yours. Despite any reluctance on your part, you kiss her back.
[2] You feel a flaring pain in the back of your skull.

Commence turret-destruction, followed by a rush attempt at the open ports along with Avens.

If possible, only fire at any incoming projectiles and evade the rest.

Attempt destruction of turrets.
Kaylee
[12 vs 10] The mech clicks, before slipping into speeds faster than light, your short-range scatter-shot flaring forth in the darkness of space, blowing a number of turrets to rubble as you skim the surface of the Hiveship, your mech's camouflager turning a deep, metal grey. [1 Kaylee's Turret's health]

[10 vs 12] You begin to fire on turrets with your missiles, the fiery missiles blowing through space, many missing, but many scoring shots on the turrets, not enough to harm them. You, however, don't notice a counterattack in time, your body slamming in your mech as the shield is impacted. [3 Aven's health]

[12 vs 4] Kaylee continues to circle the ship, blowing holes in the turrets, evading and shooting down a number of missiles, dodging blasts and dealing explosions. [0 Kaylee's turret's health]

[7 vs 3] Aven's proceeds to unload a number of rockets into the turrets, dodging blast by shifting aside every time a rocket gets too close. The ammo-barrel of your launcher rolls with each blast.

[9 vs 9] Avens continues to blast holes into the turrets, but the rockets fail to do any conclusive damage.

[13 vs 6] Finally, the last of her marked turrets explode into balls of firey death, leaving the Hiveship defenseless from boarding parties and enemy fleets.

[2+4+4] Kaylee and Avens begin to pull and tear at the numerous ports, but for some reason cannot pull them open, the scraggly steel putting up a fierce resistance, before finally tearing away.

Air begins to drain from the upper decks of the Hiveship. The ports are open.

Magnus votes for Hayes, and tries to convince the members of the Asgardian Confederacy to vote with him
[8+2] Many members flinch, looking away from your steely gaze. Their hands crossing in their laps, fingers resting on the buttons.
[9] Not a single one seems defiant of you, in fact many of them seem outright terrified of you after rumors were leaked about what you did to the last member of the Confederacy who voted against you.

Making evolution your bitch.

[50-32-20=12] Twelve of the humans are seperated from the rest, herded into a containment cell, before they're executed without remorse and without mercy by your drones.

[Total Left: 38]

[10 Morale]

[9.5 rounded down: 9] Nine of group Blank are divided into group Beta after rigorous physical testing. The twenty-nine others are placed into group Alpha. Morale is good, people seeming to hope, to think, that this will end soon and they'll be let go.

[Alpha: 29]
[Beta: 9]

[10] Many of the tourists are apparently from a planet heavy on mining, their eyes dilating quickly and widely when light is removed and added. Many seem confused by the test, but stay silent.

[7] Seven Of group Alpha are determined to be the best regarding eye dilation and the amount of light reflected and used.

[2] Two of group Beta pass all tests, and are confined in the same cell to share space, due to lack of room within the cells. It seems both are miners on a mineral rich world with heavy gravity and frequent lunar eclipses.

[Alpha: 22]
[Beta: 9]
[Delta: 7]
[Gamma: 2]

[22[acronym]+12+19] = 5713.4 pounds of food. Protein paste stores are back up and well. ((Good thing food is abstracted.))

The voting begins, the Planetary Governors signing the name of the ones they wish to rule over them and the Federation on the screens in front of them.

[118:87+22+9] Maxwell Hayes' bar skyrockets in the first few minutes, many of the inner ring planets grinning, a few of the more backwater planets, grunt before slouching back and doing something of little to no interest, usually sleeping, smoking or cleaning their fingers with large pocket-knives.

[50:42+7+1] Versen falls behind and stays behind in the election, taking home fifty votes, certainly not enough to beat Maxwell Hayes. More outer ring planets seem annoyed, or outright angry, a few lighting up a smoke or cigar and grumbling to their neighbors as the polls are tallied, re-tallied and re-read.

[~] A man stands up from the crowd, flicking an old-timey lighter, to light his cigarette. He snatches up his placard -- which reads The Garocony Empire -- and throws it at the holo-screen, so that it bounces off the statue behind it.

"Ain't servin' no nancy-boy like Hayes. Ain't servin' tha' Fed, if he'ss at their head."

Then the man leaves, clove scented smoke trailing behind him as he walks, hands in his pockets, boots tapping on the floor.

A shrill, annoying alarm began ringing in Markactl's temporary control station.
BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH BREACH
So much for trusting humans.

"All ship! Launching boarding party! Fixing holes engineers! Please at least venting mutants?"

Kaylee, Avens: Markactl appears on screen again. His face is mostly covered by his paw.

"Excellent working. Now, only problem massive damage to Hiveship. Many thanks."

All ships capable of doing so send transports with troops and engineers over to both clear the upper decks of mutants, and fix (temporarily) the great big hole torn into the side of the ship.

"You are very welcome."

Avens says dryly (again), wondering what came over her in the area of opening holes in the ship.

"Assuming that distress signal was solely because of the turrets, I'm sure we can just go now, then? On another note, assuming you followed protocol, you would have most or all of your airlocks down and closed. I don't see what's the problem, but that may be because I'm on the exterior of your ship. Sharing intelligence in a joint action is always appreciated.

"If two airlocks equals massive damage to your ship, that there is a problem... Houston.

"Hiveship Airlock made of strong metal. Never expecting Ozomatli scum come rip them off. Chh! All same. Great thanks deactivating turrets. Please to be leaving."

Someone appears behind Markactl's shoulders. They whisper something in his gills. He stands up and whispers back for a moment. Datapads are exchanged. After a few seconds, he sits back down. His face, being as it is an all-but immobile piece of shell, is unreadable.

"Many apologies. Doing good work. Small hole, overreacting sensors. Fixing engineers, problemless. Please to be staying. Rewards giving."

((You did say attack the turrets D:

Err...oops? Reprimand me later, ma'am.))

Kaylee slowly facepalmed as she took in the situation. It was worse than what she had thought.

"Mark, err- sorry for going a little overboard with the turrets. And the forced entry. And the debris. And the cost of-"

Seeing Avens expression, she relented in her apologies.

"Shall we move in?" she said to Avens, gesturing at the now open holes in the ship.

Emmanuel followed Bubblegum as she motioned for him to do so. He thought she was going to talk to him, explain how and why he was wrong and maybe complain a little more about his inadequacy and how he shouldn't treat her the way he had.

But he most certainly didn't expect that to happen.

The small girl pushed him against a wall, catching him by surprise. Emmanuel had barely opened his mouth to ask why and she pulled him into a kiss, her lithe body pressing against his with unexpected strength. He tried to put up a little resistance, but ultimately gave up. Having living a somewhat sheltered life as he was educated into leader material for his group, that kind of contact was a new experience for him, and he could not help but feel confused at the situation. Although he was pretty sure he was being awfully clumsy with the kissing.

Then he felt a flaring pain in the back of his head, his thoughts drifting towards it even as Bubblegum kept pressing against him.

Try to discover what is causing the pain, avoid/move away from it.

Try to discover what is causing the pain, avoid/move away from it.

[5] You move away from the pain suddenly, bumping into Bubblegum, who blinks up at you as you pull away, looking hurt by the gesture.

[~] There's nothing behind you, just a rough adobe wall. The back of you head, where the pain was, shows no signs of damage. But the pain is still there, lancing through your brain like a hot poker.

[10] You feel something bubbling up in your head, your eyes fluttering shut as a sudden sense of gratitude, lust, boredom, hurt, betrayal, loneliness and a number of other emotions rise to the surface. The pain fades quickly under the fountain of strange emotions.
