Final check:
Spinal_Taper, your character has 25 HP and 1 Swiftness, according to your points spent. Edit accordingly. Also, do write down your default equipment, which is two [D] sentry floaters, one [common] Armor Inventory which stores sentry floaters and mining equipment, one rock gun which shoots either waste rock chunks or metal, and an automated magitech drill.
Wolf, write down your default equipment too and consolidate your character sheet for posting after your posts o_O
For those waitlisters, I might run Delvers a lα Einsteinian Roulette, with a hub for staging, where players wait their turn to volunteer for missions. Not all missions would be five people.
Those who haven't bought any personal items at all should record 50 credits on their sheet.
The IntroductionThe staging area is the hub of the entire cavern town of Mangja. It consists of multiple berths carved out by the aspiring dwarven miners that live here which are well-lighted with floating lamps and have dotted yellow lines painted, leading out. Square boxes painted neutral colors such as grey or a dark pastel green occupy the stone berths and are surrounded by a few men and women working on things. Some of them have floating Reels or Lightboxes around them; sometimes the Lightboxes are on to illuminate some dark nook of the delveboxes, while mechanics or magitech experts converse, fight, and fix. The ceiling of the cavern is also lighted with more of those marvelous floating lamps that cast a wan light over the whole surface of the rock, focusing on leaving none of it unlit rather than making it very bright. The fear of the Dark was in every single one who worked here, and no-one wanted a dark expanse hanging above them while they did their jobs. Being afraid of the dark wasn't a childish fear in this world.
In one of the berths there are five people grouped in front of a short man, with prematurely grey hair bristling on his head. His face indicates his age to be in his late thirties, and his bushy beard would almost make one think he was a dwarf. He says, "
Now, since we're finally all here, let's go! In case you missed it, I'm to be your Pathfinder today; my name is Parker, and I am a rank 9-certified Pathfinder. In case you're wondering, you people are all rank 0-certified, and you'll get your first rank after completing this mission. Standing in the corner there, where the shadows almost turn dark, is Joker." He points to a tall, lanky man with stringy black hair that is braided in many thin braids, with an orange rimless visor and wearing black clothes that aren't too flowly nor too fitting. He has a white Reel visible. It is much more ornate and longer than the [common] reels the Reeler, Falken, has; it has two reels on it, and many short spears, knives, swords, and guns fitted in the two rows it has. The reel also seems to have a tiny energy shield of pale blue to one side. Joker waves, grinning.
"
He is a 10-certified Reeler, and he'll be escorting us today, just in case something happens. He won't interfere unless things really look dangerous. Anyways, the mission! We're going to Delve a cave which was cleared and lighted near the start of the Delving. The lighting was removed just for this test. The veins of ore were untouched, so you don't need to worry about there not being metal for your profit. One nodule of float stone was planted in a section of the cave.
"I'll go over what each position does one more time, in case you forgotlike that would happen after your intensive course. The Lightkeeper handles the flow of information, lights the darkness and sends Lightcubes after members, and can control Sentries and Searcheyes instead of their owners if they allow him to. The Reeler is the one who kills the monsters in the dark that inevitably will come crawling out. Light pistols are especially effective against monsters made of pure dark, while good old steel is best against others. The Searcher can both detect ore and float stone, can spot monsters from far away or sometimes even before they form, and also can draw attention to them then disappear, earning precious time for their team. The Extractor sets up sentries both for protection and for mining, and retrieves the float stone and the other ore. Finally, the Warder creates shields that divert physical damage to himself and thus prevent others from dying to fast. Got it?
"The Pathfinder, which is me, guides you to the gateway and directs the members back to the gateway after the objective is complete, or extraction needed. There are a few other specialties, but you'll meet them as you go. Questions?"
