Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 110:  Nothing much happens

Quote from: Tiruin
Check the next door--adjacent to where we exited!

(door result=[6] Angels present=[4] Power of Angels=[6] Years in the future=[74])  The door opens slowly onto a pavilion.  This looks much different then the manor as it exists now... in fact the entire city looks different.  Everything gleams in white stone.  The sun shines off of every surface.  All along the roads are small pines in the well-cared for city.  You see a patrol beneath you keeping guard over the city.  The patrol seems very odd, they wear faceplates rather than helmets.  No traces of emotions can be found, though the oddest part is the soul stones they wear, ensuring their souls stay in this world rather than ascending to the heavens. The days feel warmer and all-around people are talking.  Business is being conducted and the world seems to be at peace.  There is a small stairway leading down to the street from your current location.

Quote from: Zako
Back Akari up as we open the door. Make sure to stand well to the side of it and in a ready to block position.

[5]  There seems to be nothing to worry about from this particular door.  A welcome change.

Quote from: Caellath
Stand by Akari and prepare to attack, defend or heal as necessary.

[6]  There seems to be nothing to worry about from this particular door.

Quote from: Ochita
If anything attacks the party, prepare to heal or holy shield.

[1]  You would prepare a spell but the light gets in your eyes and you can't see anything.  It disrupts your concentration most severely.

Quote from: Tikan A.I.
Enter into this strange new world.

[3] Tikan enters cautiously, ultimately she turns around, "You have to see the clouds." she says looking up at them.

Quote from: Fleur
Stay outside

[3] "You all can explore if you want to, I'll just stay right here."

"This is... beautiful."

Akari was in awe at the sight before her. It was beautiful in all sense of the word.
She shook her head and with a slight tinge of sadness to her voice, looked back at the others.

"But this is obviously not where Maria went. While I'd love to explore this place...um. Alright. Your turn Mordekhai. Which door?"

Slip away into that door .__. Appreciate the place a bit and ponder if I should return to Mordekhai and the rest.

Aegnor was at a loss for words, to imagine that he would be looking at the warp, and then this... He felt himself moving further towards the door, but stopped himself. While it may be an idealistic world, it was not his to be in. He felt like he still had business in 'his' world, and with that in mind, he softly spoke the following. "... It is an idealistic world, one that so many have fought for.. I suppose this just shows what people can do..."
His voice was faint, as though he was just talking to himself, pauses littered across his words. Finally, he turned his back onto the door, and gave a small nod to the others. A
"We still need to find Maria. Let us not lose sight of our goals. Mordekhai, if you will?"

Take up position at the door that is next chosen!

"Another future scenario?" Mordekhai asks, more to himself than anyone else. "At the very least this one seems favorable. Let us hope it happens after or in place of the last one. We have no business here and an unfinished task back where we came from. Stay at your own risk." The last part seems obviously directed at the foxfolk.

Next door.

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 112:  Maria's Return

Quote from: whole party
Next door, same stuff.

(Door Result=[4])  Mordekhai kicks the door open, flail at the ready, satisfyingly enough you see Maria.  She's surrounded by spent ammunition and... abominations of some kind.  "Tin Can, what have you done?!" she screams across the room at you.  Thankfully you see she hasn't had time to get new machine pistols, you notice one of them is spinning with an unknown energy like Malgun's pistol earlier.  The pistol that was shooting lances of holy energy, though you doubt your opponent to be so honorable.

Taking brief account of the room, or what should be a room, it appears to be... living, the walls pulse and inside you can see various pirates trapped in fluid-filled sacs, Various states of horror and disbelief permanently etched on their now dead faces.  On closer examination the abominations surrounding Maria appear to be part of the organism, some feelers, others designed to protect whatever strange mutation this room of the house has take on, and yet others to capture prey.  You don't know how many might be left, but it looks like Maria has at the very least made a dent in them.

The room is bleeding from different places, blood spurting in hot bursts as though pumping from a vein.  Briefly considering the wails from the wooden dolls earlier, it is possible those dolls damage this very room, but for an organism of this size to take such damage..... ultimately heavy thinking like that is best left for later.  For now, you take up positions just inside the room with Kael, protecting the other members of your party.

((There wasn't much more to see, outside of the fact that the clouds were dragons fighting each other.  Unless you wanted to actually stay and interact I viewed it as more important to keep the group together.))

((I forget - were we supposed to just kill Maria or did we have any important questions to ask her/something to do before she's dead?))

((As long as the conversation doesn't spend a turn, I guess that's doable.))

Mordekhai's eyes narrowed at the strange scene. "And here we meet again. Have you missed me?" he asks, swinging the spiked head of his flail by the chain with his thumb and index while the rest of his hand grasps the handle firmly. "Tell me, what were your objectives coming here and what exactly went wrong with your plan? Your situation does not seem too pleasant."

"Comparatively, your presence is much more welcome."  She says leveling a gun at your head, "But that doesn't mean I won't fight my way out of this room.  I've been in worse situations and lived, and you won't stop me now, not this close to success."  It seems some form of pressure must be brought to bear in order to get more useful information out of her.

"I can see you still apppreciate me. How would you feel if I closed this door? I think it would go back to you being the only available target for these creatures and an open door is certainly easier to escape through than a closed one, don't you agree? Meanwhile, we could simply outside until you were completely exhausted and then deliver the mercy blow." Mordekhai answers in an attempt to pressure her into spilling the beans. As if to make his point, he shifts slightly like he's about to move back through the doorway.

"No!  Don't close the door!" Maria yells as you act like you're going to move out.  She sighs exasperated, "Look, that airship you were on was carrying a valuable key to the royal crypts beneath the city, while I have no interest in grave robbing I have no issues taking money from those who aren't so... concerned."  She looks around at the walls, seemingly scanning for something, "Now if you just let me leave, this will be the last time we meet."

((We can just continue combat turns if you'd rather not having the characters talking in "anime time", aka having long-winded conversations while there are moving enemies around.))

Mordekhai does not stop shifting away. "You came here to meet someone and that is not the whole story. I want everything. Or I close the door and the next we meet, you will be one of the mansion's ghosts."

((Nobody else is posting so it doesn't really matter to me, you'll either have to let her go and upset Fleur and Nuru both, or kill her, or act like you are going to let her go, then smack her in the back of the head.  At some point everyone in the party has to decide together which approach to take, and if they are going to investigate this... room thingy))

"Holy Goddess of Whores, you don't quit, do you?" she asks, pistol still focused on your head.  "Look, he asked me to retrieve it for him, I did, he gave me a lot of money, we both killed a lot of each others grunts, that's how these criminal exchanges work.  I don't really go through the trouble of vetting the guy because the only ones who actually knows who we all are, is the gods-damned money launderers.  And just for reference later, if any of them talk to people like you they end up dead real quick.  For fuck's sake, my name isn't even actually Maria.  He told me his name was Vortivask or something.  It's got to be the worst cover-name in all history but I honestly didn't care, I wanted his money, not a life-story."
