Didn't get a picture of it, but after i made a few "fun" mistakes (flooded the top layer of my fort in magma), and everything looked dead (and units list confirmed most of them were), there was two vault citizens left, swimming in the 6/7 lava. Instead of burning to death (as i thought) they remained alive for several months, swimming in the magma still, and died from starvation some time later (they had nothing wrong with them according to their screens, and the health screen, no burns or anything, and they weren't close enough for them to kill each other when they lost it). Unfortunately DF crashed shortly after  :'( (hence the no picture)
Vampires.
There's no vampires (don't remember what they were replaced with, i'll go dig around for that) in the post apocalypse mod though  ??? (and besides, i did a cursecheck before and it said there was none  :-\)
I can confirm that they were not vamps - vamps are vulnerable to magma and do not get hungry (the post states that the two dwarves died from starvation). I am not entirely sure, but maybe temperature was turned off?

EDIT: Or maybe their fat was melted off
Well, I forgot about the starvation bit, but I know for a fact it does help slow deaths from magma. And it certainly doens't sound like regular dwarves.

Doesn't that leave a mark on them in the description though (fat melting)? They had no mark what so ever, and no, temperature was on, else the entire good forest and evil glacier would not have been on fire  :P, and all the other animals/vault citizens had burned to death via the magma (how would they have died if it was not on, temperature that is).

Alrighty I got one for ya.

Here's the setup:

Bad ass motha dwarves, thats what I'm talkin about.
Used to be, I couldn't figure out how to train or equip dwarves... The hilarity of facing an ambush with them.... Watching 8 recruits run up to a group of four goblins, when suddenly 16 dwarf hands go flinging in every direction was a test of patience.

I finally trained the armorsmith well enough that he turns out masterworks, so the first two axe squads are now in full masterwork and exceptional steel armor.  The dwarven caravan arrived, so I ordered the squads to escort them up.

BAM SIEGE

The human caravan was butchered just last season, and by golly, we are inundated with socks, so we gotta get the caravan through.  Rather than close the drawbridge and funnel the siege in through the back door, I decided to STAND AND FIGHT.

It was GLORIOUS.  4 dwarves saw off the entire siege right at the gate.  Squad after squad goes in and the appendages just litter the ground.  The caravan did rout, but this was certainly suitable revenge for those poor handless dwarves I mentioned earlier.

So the scene I suggest:  4 dwarves facing off an army outside the gate, trying to make a path for caravan... Just because the parents of the fort are trying to savethechildren from drowning in an ever growing pool of worn out socks and trousers... Mommy, will the caravan take the socks away? Pray to armok they get through, urist, all we can do is hope..

Over in the Dawn of Time Challenge thread during my turn:

The spinning water laced with bogeyman blood strikes the bogeyman in the upper body, jamming the ribs through the lung yatta yatta yatta.
The water laced with bogeyman blood has lodged firmly in the wound!
The bogeyman pulls out and drops the water laced with bogeyman blood.
The bogeyman has bled to death.

I like to think the bogeyman tried to pull the water out but instead pulled his lung out.

(Yes please this is a request! :E)

If cause of death was bleeding out, he must have missed and pulled out his heart O_o

Here is my request - it is fairly straightforward:

Spoiler: Battle Report (click to show/hide)

I guess the severed part which sailed off in an arc was... the rest of the body? Hm.

I did all these last night, so the most recent posts will not be replied to. Yet.
Could you draw this?

My carpenter, Armok may have his blood, began drowning near a waterfall and they would be 'missing'... forever and ever...

A romantic getaway <3
The marsh titan (a giant leech with a shell)
The marsh titan spits webs
you are caught in a web and fall over
the marsh titan
 bites your head
The marsh titan shakes you around by the head, breaking the upper spine
you drop the copper spear
the marsh titan shakes you around by the head x4
the marsh titan sucks all your blood out through your head
you have bled to death

That was the whole fight. I think i remember it correctly.

Things are going okay.
Drunk fortress.

It doesn't matter what's in the barrel, because he's had far too much of it.
Was just mopping up the last of a seige and decided to check the reports.  Found this one and after reading it was thinking "stop playing with the poor Giant Olm already"

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Admittedly there were two Axe Lord's in the fight as well as two Giant Olms along with two goblins and the militia captain.  I think the report is from the last Giant Olm, the last one standing also.

"I heard that if you surprise a Giant Olm and grab it by the tail, the tail will fall off!"
"Would that work with the rest of its limbs?"
"Uh..."

on a related note, smoked lamb is way too strong for me
but it's pretty much all they eat in Iceland
even the hot dogs have lamb in them
GoombaGeek, I fucking love you, you're awesome!

I was just in Adventure mode, cause I decided to actually learn how to play. Anyway, I killed a dog or thirty, and I didn't know the people of the town would take it so personally. So I go to the meat-market section of the town, thinking nothing of it, and about 120 enemies start attacking me with whatever's in their hands. I've got Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Dogs, Various other domestic animals, all beating the shit out of me at once with various meat and fish products. I died in like two seconds.

Wow I am quite flattered that you drew all mah reports.
Has anyone suggested the classic raw dupe weirdness:

I once had a siege, that ended with the first ballista arrow i fired, it took out their leaders eye, leaving him unharmed apart from losing his left eye. He freaked and ran, everyone in the siege followed him.

This came from one forum I read, could you draw this?

If that had been my fortress there would have been no Balista, he would have been caught in a cage and used as target practice by my marksdorfs.

On a side note, plump helmet men make excellent targets.

Another day in Silentthunders, and a milestone!

Atis Lancecalm has become the first Dwarf to use the patented Dorf baby shieldTM.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
And Uvash decided to solve that lil' problem by shooting at the raven and the baby. Legendary marksdwarf, but still.

Can you draw a 4-armed, 3-indigo-eyed, carmine-skinned, blond-haired demonblood (modded race, only displays traits that the human body managed to accept, bit bigger than humans) hacking up a bunch of goblin lshers with a shardgun (shoots shards of metal at people, usually severing limbs)?

One time I had a noble start tantruming in the middle of the dining hall, only to be quickly subdued by the surrounding dwarves. A bone doctor punched him in the right hand with his right hand, while another dwarf punched him in the right foot. The bone doctor then punched him again in the LEFT hand. Upon this, the noble gave into the pain.

I once had a 3 z-lvl tank of water underground, to provide water and power to places that needed it. As such, I had a door at the bottom for access when the whole mess was drained. I didn't forbid the door nor did I lever link it - I didn't think it was necessary, as there were no tasks that a dwarf could have at the bottom of the tank.

Then someone who was on break decided to enter the room. They met with a wall of water, their corpse blocked the door from closing, and the entire fort was flooded (the tank was supplied by either an aquifer or a river, and was some 25x25 tiles large - a total of 75 cubes of water, or 525 units of 1/7 water). I just imagine the moment of time when the door gets opened and the dwarf sees the wall of water.

Bonus points for fish in the water, as I know fisherdwarves were fishing at the time - I got job cancellation spam from the incident.

I also made a 3-level deep reservoir!

except there was no way to enter it except from the top
there was also no way to empty it
the only thing it actually drove was a little aqueduct that constantly pumped water into my goblin room, so if they didn't fight the current at all times they would get swept into a 50-level drain ending on some nasty spikes

It's surprising how many people make their first posts on this thread... :o
Either it's the fact that large active threads on the upper boards are hard to come by and few between, or Goomba is masta sock puppet masta.

From this point on, I was asleep. :U

my dog decided it was now a hunting dog and ran off from about 3 z levels for this:

Don't ask why so many of my posts have badgers in them, and sorry about the dog. I was just utterly confused at how this dog reached the surface to attack these badgers who weren't even enraged :/

Also, literally just happened about 5 minutes after checking this thread:

Dear Urist McStockpileDrone
I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.

the second line in this report is the most mysterious thing I've ever seen. It's how I'd imagine an attack from giygas would show up in the combat reports.

Or if this one isn't bizarre enough there's the one where a dwarf removed a floor tile over my well of immortality (a well with a vampire impaled by a upright spear trap at the bottom), fell onto the spear trap and somehow AVOIDED being impaled by all the spears Then got up and walked away.
