I say 10,000; but a miniature fraction of our present race. At it's core, the unification goal should be to preserve and 'help' humanity.

Also, I think DZA should create an OOC thread; I want to be able to ramble on about non-relevant things without giving a page-induced heart attack to all our readers.

He immediately begins to beavergoat the man quite thoroughly! At the very beginning, the man is mystified by James' actions, but his face quickly becomes a mask of horror when the procedure starts!

"OH GODS WHY? WHYYY?"

After a twenty minute session, the man is left white as a sheet, hairless and completely and utterly dead. James congratulates himself on a job well done!

Victory by unification requires all opposition on Earth to be eliminated. This can include other Chosen Ones. By focusing on unifying only a small number of humans from the start, you'd likely only be making things easier for the other participants. Those focusing on extermination would have less standing in their way, and those focusing on unification would easily be able to surpass and overwhelm whatever small amount of humanity you managed to 'store away'.

Perhaps I'm overlooking something, but if someone honestly wants to take on the challenge of protecting a tiny fraction of humanity against the rest of the world, I don't really see a problem with that.

Also, I think DZA should create an OOC thread; I want to be able to ramble on about non-relevant things without giving a page-induced heart attack to all our readers.

If others feel the same way, it shall be done.

Could we just convince them they're better off following us than being dead? Or Undead if I get the ability to make Zombies. I bet a few Demons would impress them. Or I could just form a Cult.

I will probably be allying with another chosen one or two.  Possibly more, depending upon the methods of others aiming for unification.

As the protector of mankind I'll have to side with whoever avoids murder; at the very least in a selfish context. Awakening humans with the willpower to want to do good and spare lives is going to be somewhat arduous.

I feel it is mandatory for me to destroy humanity now. It'll be a lonely road, but someone's got to take it.

What's your method? Mine will be get them into Space with advanced tech borrowed from... me, I guess.

And would this be a slightly alternate me on this Earth? Because I do believe if I talked to a future me, not an alternate me, bad stuff happens.

I will start off as a protector and arbiter of a group of people, and will work my way from there.  Can't lay down any concrete plans due to the unpredictability of the future.  Might do some rallying of people against Inithis's character.

Arbiter - a person empowered to decide matters at issue; judge; umpire.

When I get in I'm not sure what I'll do. Probably unify them by converting them to my mass. Unification through extermination! And remember, when you kill me, you kill a cosmic baby.  :P
