How do you check the english meaning?
By (v)iewing the unit. It says on the top. If the Dwarf's name is too long and you can't see it, checking through other relations also helps. Like "Dwarf 1" is married to "Dwarf full name in English"

I just noticed while messing with the name creator that something could, theoretically, be named "Minecraft the Everlasting Master-Block of Worlds."

I'd say that, were it that someone ever got such a thing naturally, they simply win.

But you never see a movie where a terrible coal plant accident causes a horrible devastation, do you? Nope, everyone seems to think that nuclear plants get their energy by smacking live atomic warheads all day or something.

My current fort has a goddess of darkness named 'Sod Murkytwilight the Cloak of Dusk'. I dunno why, but I find that a pretty cool name.

My fort is currently being gutted by a frost wyrm whose name is Plamen, "The Warm Glow".

The name would be more funny if my fort wasn't on fire at the moment.

In my case, for a name to be really noticable, it can't just be cool, it has to be appropriate. My current count/mayor is named Ezum Towerstones, fitting because he plans to build a fortress with a lot of towers. A previous world had a civilization called "The Mechanical Mansions," so naturally when I started a fort with them I chose the name "Gearguarded," but it wasn't until after I'd embarked that I noticed that the expedition leader was named Wheelmesh. In another of my old forts, the very first Legendary Engraver was named Rockimages. That kind of thing.

My current fort has a goddess of darkness named 'Sod Murkytwilight the Cloak of Dusk'. I dunno why, but I find that a pretty cool name.
Deities often have names associated with their domain(s). The RNG looks at their portfolios, and for each element in their name, there's about a 50% chance of it being related to one of their areas of control. I've got a god of wealth whose name translates to "Luxury FortuneGilt the Golden Taxes."

My fort is currently being gutted by a frost wyrm whose name is Plamen, "The Warm Glow".
Just as with gods, dragons' names commonly draw from lists of words related to fire and wealth.

Dwarf Fortress -- kind of like Minecraft, but for people who hate themselves.

Okay, so this is somewhat lewd, but still awesome imho:
"In the midspring of 112, the giantess Otar Climaxmassive the Bold Justice became an enemy of The Fellowship of Carnality."

You'd think the Fellowship of Carnality would be fine with massive climaxes.

!!Science!!: Knowledge through magma

There's safe. Then there's unsafe. And then there's the average dwarf fort, which remains unrated because the OSHA inspector flatly refused to go anywhere within a dozen miles of the place.

Fortress name:  Trapdeath the Screams of Artifice.  Not from the RNG, though.

Leave anything to chance, eventually the RNG will roll a 1 and everything will erupt in a fountain of magma and vomit.

Fortress random name "Rockgravel".

I found the sheer mundane-ness of the name amusing, especially compared to some of its inhabitants:

A squad just called itself "The Swords of Evisceration".

Unfortunately, they're a crossbow squad. *Facepalm.*
