Anyone else notice Republican bloggers & forumites pushing this idea that the shooter is a Democrat?
Even though their own sources who initiated the theory say this has been disproved.

This is the source and redaction:

Well considering they assumed the norway neonazi was a muslim, I'm not surprised in the least; they do it with every shooting.

Despite the fact that Brevik's manifesto had the Templar Cross on the front of it, no less.

... and has openly stated that his intent was to prevent the islamification (is that even a word?) of Norway.

Well, no, it was during the period of time before any evidence of anything was available. "There was a shooting; we don't know who or why they did it. MUST BE MUSLIMS TRYING TO KILL OUR FREEDOMS."

Meh....they were mostly butthurt that ABC jumped the gun and said, "Hmmm...this guy's name was James Holmes....and we found a Jim Holmes from Colorado who joined the Tea Party! OMG SHOOTER MIGHT HAVE BEEN A TEA PARTIER!"

So, after rightfully excoriating ABC for irresponsible journalism and partisan attacks, Breitbart.com had to take it a bridge too far by bemoaning the attacks of the mainstream media on conservatism, and then practicing their own irresponsible journalism and partisan attack by claiming the guy matched a James Holmes who's....a registered Democrat! (DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUN!) Or not. Looks like he was probably not registered to vote.

The fact that this fucking bullshit was predictable about 0.5 seconds after he first pulled the trigger is what makes me so incredibly cynical and pissed off. I'll be listening to Tool's "Aenema" on repeat some this evening, methinks. (My go-to song when I'm feeling like the country/world needs the shit smacked out of it a few thousand times.)

So, from my earlier research and experiance 22-25 years old is the usual age range at which the voices start telling you to do thing if you have schitzophrenia.

Remember, just 'cause they are in your head, dosn't mean they are on your side.

It's certainly interesting that, at this point, most of the comments we make are repetitive and can easily be predicted.  Political issues, gun control arguments, psychological analyses.

But what I find to be a hard truth that the whole security theater might need to learn someday is that:  No matter the security measures you take, there will always be special points that are vulnerable and where you can maximize the "effectiveness" of your attack.  Airports (before screening), parks, traffic congestions, etc.

- Is this avoidable at the cost of total control? Is there such thing as total control when someone doesn't care about their own life?
- Is it possible to analyze this issue without being influenced by the opportunism of politics and the, let's say agendas, of different ideologies?

Meanwhile, according to reports, Warner Bros. has also pulled a trailer for its upcoming film Gangster Squad, a 1940s-set thriller starring Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling.

Movie website Deadline said the trailer, which was being shown during the previews of The Dark Knight Rises, featured a scene of gunmen going into a cinema and shooting patrons as they watch a film.
"Hmm, I suppose our trailer could be seen as a little bad taste..."

Obviously, 100% security is impossible. But there are more than a few things that could be done to significantly reduce the current level of risk. Many of which have been rendered politically verboten. So you get what we got.

Y'know...I actually applaud that decision. Normally, I scoff at things like digitally deleting the Trade Towers out of MS Flight Simulator (or even retroactively editing them out of movies)....but that's specific enough that it's probably a good decision.

Like what? The TSA and HomeSec have pretty much already been given free reign to do everything but summary executions if they "deem it necessary".

TSA and DHS don't really have any kind of jurisdiction over domestic stuff like this. They're focused mostly on external threats inside the country. A guy like this, with no prior record...might not have been stoppable. Even if we had a picture of gun purchases...four firearms, if purchased over a long enough period of time, wouldn't necessarily raise a red flag. But take the guy that shot up that bar in Alabama...dude had all kinds of prior arrests. No way he should have been walking around with a gun.

Oh, and here's the public statement from President Obama:
Quote
Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado. Federal and local law enforcement are still responding, and my administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time. We are committed to bringing whoever was responsible to justice, ensuring the safety of our people, and caring for those who have been wounded.
God, you'd think the scriptwriters could at least break out a thesaurus once in a while, just to shake things up.
