So, basic execution tower....
« on: July 19, 2012, 07:39:24 pm »

I need a basic, cheap method of disposing of vampires, nobles, children, and the like. Does anyone here have any prefered methods of disposal that are relatively cheap and disposable? (Pre metal, if possible).

Build a tower of up/down stairs up to z-level 26. Build a bridge. station/pasture everything on said bridge. link bridge to lever, then pull. That's how I've bee ndoing it.

Well, the simplest I can think of is to just drop a bridge on them, although getting them under the bridge in the first place can be tricky. You can assign them a bedroom that can be flooded with magma or water, or one that is full of repeating spike traps. You could burrow them with a minecart set to 'ride' and aimed at a volcano. If they can starve, just give their room a door and lock it.  You could put them in a military squad with no equipment and send them outside to wrestle giant dingos...

The Biggest problem being that vampire dwarves have a decent shot against a giant dingo, and I prefer calmer biomes. For now, My useless migrants are being dropped down a 2 z level drop, then "operated" on by the medical dwarves.

A burrow on 2x2 repeated wooden spikes is quite cheap and effective, a burrow under a drawbridge is probably better: no corpse - no crime - no tantrum spiral.

Ballista are one of the few items that allow for damage via "friendly-fire".  By positioning the desired dead in the path of a training room (complete with a far-wall drop for bolt retrieval and reuse) you can train a dwarf in the art of siege weapons as you redefine staking a vampire!

The worst part is, I never execute children, migrants or nobles myself, I only give advice about it. That's what this forum does to us, we always ask "how", never "why" :).

Okay, I reccomend long fall onto a weapon trap. At least 22-25 z-levels if you want assured destruction, no normal dwarf survives that, so a vampire won't find it easy. When the survivors land, the trap tears the remaining flesh apart. Don't worry about making the trap activate, from that height the'll pass out, activating it anyway.

Test it out with animals. If they activate the trap, it worked. Thats how I did it.

I have a suspicion that some of the more notorious stuff we do in DF would make the average Nazi blush.  It's not like they ever attempted the mass breeding and slaughter of a specific group for the purposes of turning them into trinkets.

And my defence for knowing about ballista hurting friendlies stems from a Fort-smashing monster/diplomat the humans sent a few forts back that I needed to get rid of because it couldn't bother to chat with my mayor because it was too busy destroying all my ☼doors☼.
