EXECUTE THIS INSOLENT MAN!

If the King was an NPC, and if you insulted him... :P

Q: Spring orders state how much landed nobles will spend on a certain item, right? Will the payment occur at the end of the year and not next season?

If so, how much does every landed noble currently have in coin, currently?

Good question, let me check.  Your Spring Orders take effect immediately, but money is deducted at the end of the season, not the year.  Or it can be deducted immediately for better book-keeping purposes.  If you find yourself in the red, you can always try and pay on credit or find some banker willing to do you a loan, though many noble houses have been ruined by debt.

You started with one year's income from lands and rents, minus the king's tax.

Also, new lore in the lore thread.  Check the first post.

I should've asked this pertinent question in the first place.

Thanks for clarifying it in detail!

And...bankers? Bankers exist in our time period?

Well, more like loan sharks.
But yeah, where ever there has been money, there has been someone willing to lend other people money at exorbitant interest. Sure, various religions had rules about usury, but there were always people willing to find loopholes and bend the rules.

Fathers of bankers? Yes I surely did!

But...didn't they happen after our time?

Modern banking systems don't really come into their own until the Renaissance, but there have been usurers and moneylenders since the days of Gilgamesh.  If you can't find an NPC banker, you might be able to try getting a rich lord to lend you money or something.

Edit:  I mean, really.  Kings of England and its proto-nations loaned money all the time, that's why they were so heavily in debt.  It's expensive work, being a king.

Yeah, a popular option was to pawn off your crown jewels for a large sum to a Jew. But since royals were dicks, they had no qualms with seizing property and organising pogroms to erase their debts. Thats why Phillip IV destroyed Templars: he owed them a lot of money, and it was easier to screw them over than to pay it back.

E: You guys, Zeddrous never held any land. He was a landless noble. My records never held him as a landed noble. You better amend that before you goof up.

Okay, just reading those rolls... Did the city's merchants agree to come to the meeting, though?

Oh balls.  That probably means there's actually nothing worth faking the inheritance over, then.

Edit: Yes, I'm slightly wrangling my History skill into this, but what's the point of having the skill if I don't use it?
