I couldn't even think of listing them in a best to worst order, so here's just a list of what I play.

DoomRL (fun with a gun for everyone. Best roguelike ever)
Prospector (it's a roguelike Jim, but not as you know it)
DCSS (because "o" and "tab" should be in every roguelike. Plus I'll finish the animated tileset one day)
X@com (so very cool, and about to get cooler)
Cogmind (because upgradeable mechas are good)
Slash'em(ver 6 with the easy menu system. NH lite for me, sort of).
Unreal World (Survive. In Finland! I'm half finnish. I die a lot in this)
ADOM (I'm so bad at it that I don't really play it, I just die in it)
ToME4 (cool-down combo away!)
Triangle Wizard (Real-time. Graphical. Roguelike. With spells and mouse-aim-circle-strafing. Good)

There's probably a few others that I can't remember, but these are all solid choices.

Game is amazing, and it's actually pretty roguelike heavy.

I made a 1GB pack of roguelikes including most of the freeware roguelikes you guys mentioned along with the other classic that have been unmentioned (Including the forefather of them all, Rogue!)
It's only 1GB because of DoomRL, Elona, Aurora, and ToME. If those games weren't included, it would be something like 150MB.
The pack includes :
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I call it the Rainy Day Bundle!
I'm not sure if games like Aurora that are actually installed, not just unzip will work on other computer via copy and paste, but I'd be happy to send the pack to whoever wants it, provided that it is actually legal to distribute like that.
Also, I've been playing on this pack, so you'll find a few characters named "Jeff" in some of the games, lol

The only ones I've really played (as in stuck with beyond a brief peek) are ADoM and Dungeons of Dredmor. They're quite different, but I enjoy both for what they are. Heard some good things about Stone Soup and TOME4 but I don't really have the focus at the moment for learning a new complex and unforgiving game, so I stick with the ones I know. ;)

Dungeon Crawl and Angband

I havn't ever finished a roguelike, but i've had pretty good games in Dungeon Crawl end to very simple avoidable mistakes, like accidently hitting a key in the wrong situation.

Like the concept of Angband the best of all roguelikes, but i really wouldn't mind it being remade in a more user friendly and a little prettier fashion...

Can people stop saying DF? I know it's the best gaem evar, it says in the OP to not say DF, because let's face it that would be on all our lists.

I have been playing several years ago with the ZAngbandTK package, it worked great and was much more user friendly to me than the original Angband, but when i moved on other OS, i just ceased working.
Fortunately, there had been some update 2 years ago, it was called OminbandTK and could be found here :
http://angband.oook.cz/forum/showthread.php?t=2062
It featured several versions of Angband (and the latest and working on my Os ZAngbandTK), but more importantly an user friendly mouse driven interface and some tilesets.
As it's been 2 years i don't know if the download link is always valid though.

If you're going to put all the freeware roguelikes in a pack, I would recommend adding alphaman, frozen depths and sewerjacks.

I checked out some videos of those games' gameplay, and I'll definitely be adding in Alphaman and Frozen Depths, but I don't think I'll be getting Sewerjacks. It seems too similar to some others games, plus it has graphics, which I dislike so much in a roguelike.
Thank you for the suggestions! I really appreciate that!

The reason I suggested sewer jacks is that it uses blood bowls combat system to resolve attacks, which is unique to roguelikes I believe.
