This might be because I am using the Masterwork mod but...

I know it might be hard to read, so in case it is let me point out:  This Artifact Bone Armor Stand is worth an entire 36 dwarf bucks...I am almost positive that an armor stand made a wood would be at least twice as expensive.  I think I am going to have to kill off this dwarf...I killed animals to get him those bones.

Some animals have very low bone value. Even masterwork Goblin Bone Crossbows are worth only 50 dwarfbucks while a masterwork Giant Bat Bone Crossbow will be worth 200 dwarfbucks.

But hey! You just got a lava-proof Armor Stand! Perfect for your noble´s rooms. Reusable rooms.

My V.07 fort was absolutely full of engravings of a magnetite trumpet. Most of them probably by the trumpet maker himself.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

Any artifact that isn't very useful (ie not a weapon or furniture) is automatically disappointing for me.

Although I must say the best non-weapon or furniture artifact was a leather backpack. That was decent.

It's not of course an artefact, but I have a large gem (rose quartz...) that has been incrusted and engraved more or less 10-15 times and now worths 17000*.

I don't really know what to make with it, as it can even be stockpilled in a place where dwarves would see it...

I just had a Mechanic get a fey mood.  I didn't even know it was possible.

Anyway, he made an obsidian mechanism with various bits of obsidian decoration on it. I suppose I can use it to install an +innocuous lever+ in a noble bedroom

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.

This is a TrueText bug, some of the text isn't printing. Press F12 and you'll see that it's actually worth 3600 dwarfbux.

This is a basalt mug. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.
It is encrusted with oval basalt cabochons.
This object menaces with spikes of basalt.
On the item is an image of three radiant cut gems in basalt.

So, how exactly do you picture radiant cut gems, if the picture is made of rough, grey rock? And why the hell didn't he use some of my huge piles of gems that are sitting around everywhere? Well, at least he didn't demand anything hard to get. I'm drowning in basalt.

Radiant cut refers to shape, not optical properties. Radiant cut gems are rectangular with facets radiating out from a central point.

I got an aluminum mace a while back. Typical. Over the last dozen fortresses I never had any aluminum but when I finally find a small vein my broker decided to get moody and waste it. Didn't even  produce a legendary weaponsmith thanks to being possessed. Needless to say, the dwarf has been since then relived of duty. Quite a spiffy mace actually. If I remember correctly, it had two pictures of elves taming bobcats and a kobold stealing something. (I used the planespacked bug for a short while to get a few extra decorations) I will see if I can find a picture of it somewhere.

The weredwarf Urist McUrist has come! A bearded drunkard twisted into minute form. It is crazed for booze and socks. Its unwashed beard is tangled. It needs alcohol to get through the working day and has gone without a drink for far too long. Now you will know why you fear the mines.
