Welp, looks like it's time for you to mod scepters as weapons!

Wooden... Something. Don't remember what, think some kind of useless tool. Value, 3,400.

Other disappointing ones are when legendaries get moods. Such a waste.

The adamantine splint, hands down.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

Has anyone gotten an artifact hive, jug or nest box? It seems like a lot of the new furniture, goods and tools (cauldrons, mortars, pestles, knives, forks, etc.) aren't moodable.

Incidentally toady said in dwarf chat #7 that he created an unreleased version of dwarf fortress at one point where artifacts all had one of ten randomly assigned magical powers.

Whenever I see a possessed dwarf take over a craftsdwarf shop, I feel a small part of my sanity die. :I
This. So much.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

I have had two querns (with one decorated with mudstone cabochon), and with of course the image of the second on the first.

Yeah ! At least still better than adamantine mace(s), for sure...

Here's the only two from my most recent fort:

Eliskebul Leganatesh, "Thinsparkled the Mirthful Radiances", a cobaltite toy boat.  16800*

This is a cobaltite toy boat.  All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality.  IT is studded with iron and encircled with bands of oval cobaltite cabochons.  This object menaces with spikes of diorite.  On the item is an image of a oval cabochon in cobaltite.

--

Komutimush Vucar Iseth, "Poemdike the Urns of Questing", a marble trumpet  9600*

This is a marble trumpet.  All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality.  It is encircled with bands of oval marble cabochons.  This object is adorned with hanging rings of marble and menaces with spikes of marble.

I think the toys, scepters, rings, large gems and similar jewellery are the most useless artefacts, no matter what are they made of. My preferred are always furniture (except chains - chains are not really useful), then mechanisms, then cloaks/robes, then other armour, then weapons, then shields. All others are not welcomed. Dwarves can wear jewellery, but they don't claim these artefacts, so no use for them. Maybe if I haven't been killing kobolds on site there would be some use in traps... Oh, and every time a weaponsmith makes something it's an adamantine warhammer - it's not really disappointing, it's rather amusing in its own way.

A lead boot encirled with bands of lead. Too heavy to function as a boot and too soft to function as armor.

Not good for kicking ass maybe, but for ass-kicking?  Yeah. :D

Didn't the third-strongest military dwarf in battlefailed wield a boot? IIRC the strongest wielded a =giant rat leather backpack=.

Heavy boots and gauntlets should totally modify your kicks and punches somehow, is that a feature yet? The strikes would be slower, but more powerful.
