I still think you're all figments of me. Or, more seriously, a lot like me. So every time I hear someone's age, I'm surprised again :)

I have trouble imagining anyone as person in real world. You only exist in cyberspace , so avatars it is!

I still see most forumgoers as their avatars, with certain embellishments based on what I know about them.  When I think about people's voices, I just have a general mental voice that I apply to everyone.  If I catch any sort of quirk or tic in someone's writing, I add it to my mental voice for that person.  Mostly, though, I don't worry about what forumgoers look/sound like, and I just focus on the posts they make.

Pretty simple, generally I just associate people with their avatar and everyone has my voice.  That is, unless I happen to look too closely at the avatar first and it has a distinct voice, then maybe I'll read the post in that voice, sometimes.

I have Skyped with a few people from here, and I'll say that as to be expected, the voices never match my preconceptions.

Everyone is the summation of everything I have read of them. Everything I have read of them has been read with no voice whatsoever. Thus, the ambiguity of the internet is kept at balance.

I see everyone here as eldericstein monsters and unspeakable abominations of flesh and no flesh, and beards.

Lots of other places have other faces, like;
guy richey, nigel thornberry, spiderman and batman for a site that shall not be uttered by me.
Mspaf gots real shitie drawing of what could be people, and are all bro.
Furs are always animals with clothes.
And any forum where I dont know people are always shadow people.

You know, reading this thread and the other thread (before it devolved into penguin craziness) has made me come to a realization.

Whoever manages to create a program that will read anything in Morgan Freeman's voice will be very, very rich.

"March of the Penguin Avatars"

hmm, now I'm thinking of the movie Avatar; but set in the antarctic; with the humans controlling cloned/robot wtfever Penguins.

While Morgan Freeman narrates.

I don't quite go to the extreme of regarding the forum as a chinese room, but I don't really adscribe faces to people here.
