As the other thread about this descended into penguin-related madness, howabout' we actually discuss what it was about anyways? How do you visualise others on the net? Do you give them voices?

Telle, you know that's patently false. Michigan is full of inner city types and wilderness explorers. :P C'mon, man, you have to try harder than that.

You know, regardless of what you all look like (yes, including gender), I read everything in Morgan Freeman's voice now. It's natural at this point.

I almost always identify a poster by their avatar picture, though I don't usually give voices to them. This leads to some weirdness whenever someone changes their avatar. I actually misidentified the writer of a forum game because of this. I suppose I shouldn't be so dependent on ephemeral images...

Occasionally I start reading everything in a character's voice of whatever the latest thing I'm watching is. For a while, I was reading everything in Nora Wakeman's voice, from My Life as a Teenage Robot. She's got wacky inflections so it stuck in my mind.

Most often though I have a "generic" voice for most everyone that changes in tone depending on the person. Also, visualizations of people tend to come from their avatars but sometimes from whatever details I know about them. Since hearing that Truean was a lawyer, I always pictured her in a suit and tie, for example.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I have no idea why. Wait, I remember now.
