The Planetary Society (currently headed by Bill Nye), is doing a kickstarter to launch a solar sail test satellite. They needed an additional $1.2 million (with the entire thing costing around $5.4 million), put up a Kickstarter asking for $200k as part of that. Only 2 or 3 days into it, they are now at around $350k. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/theplanetarysociety/lightsail-a-revolutionary-solar-sailing-spacecraft

Ok that's pretty sweet (statites and other solar sail spacecraft here we come!). I also like how their 1k (which are all gone already o_O), 5k, and 10k rewards all come with "you'll get to take a selfie with Bill Nye" as part of the reward. :P

Huh, I hadn't even looked at those. However, I did notice that the primary launch will be the first Falcon Heavy rocket launch. The 10k reward is actually going to watch the launch with Bill Nye; which would be doubly interesting for that reason.

Is this a good thread to ask for feedback on our Kickstarters before they go live?

Not really the point of the thread but I'd be happy to look at it and provide feedback if you like.

I don't really see a more appropriate one. I think I posted it in "When Kickstarter Goes Wrong" last time but this seems more optimistic. Here you go:

The thing about games where death is cheap is usually you don't want it to be one where it is difficult to make new characters.

Exceptions abound such as Shadowrun, but in Shadowrun you try to avoid situations where you might be picked off.

It sounds like a fantasy Phoenix Command.

Are you purposefully going after a Van Art gaming style?

It sounds like a fantasy Phoenix Command.

That already exists. It's called Sword's Path Glory and i haven't been able to hunt down a single booklet in pdf despite having a nearly complete phoenix command collection.

DO you have the source book?! I manage to find a catch of supplements, but not the core book. I'll let you have a copy of Continuum I manage to find.

High mortality RPG...you've already handicapped yourself. :\
I'm sure it's great and all, but a lot of RPG buffs are going to see those words and go somewhere else.  I want to play a character I can get to know and feel empathic about.  Farmer Boy #12 just doesn't have the same feel.  I'm not invested and if he dies, well, there's always Farmer Boy #13.

Well, recently there been a trend for whats been called Van Art Gaming, which is a call back to the more fatalist rpg series from the mid and early 80s.
