We can't intelligently respond but the bulbs could be set to automatically shock things on contact. That is the defensive part. It needs no input from us and can happen between cycles.

I think this was the first error(and an easily spotted one, by just skimming). There shouldnt be any errors, unless you somehow fail at copy-pasting or write the wrong thing accidentally.

And I dont see how its inefficient. The alternative is that I spend half an hour tallying up votes, and then another half hour checking if I counted right and if I should combine two suggestions or not. And that isnt counting the time I spend avoiding having to tally up the votes.
