We English put milk in our tea, and nobody knows more about tea than the English.

Some teas require lemon, not milk. And you call yourself English.... :)

You also can't mod in thoughts, so they won't get a happy thought from drinking tea, aside from the vanilla "enjoyed a fine drink lately."

Is this based just on the quality level or has some relation to value? If it's the latter we could make it so all tea is fine to enjoy by increasing it's price.

You can, however, mod in a short-term syndrome that causes an increase in speed or an increase in agility, both will have the same effect.  For that matter, you could also have it change their strength, perception, endurance, etc.

This seem the most sensible way to do it.
The other op requirements just need tags on the plant data so are fairly straight forward.

Except maybe pricing differently for the different species. Not sure that is possible.
Could you make the coffee a form of wood to make elves refuse to buy it? Not sure if that is possible with a drink, never tried.

If DF had tea, the elves would steal it and claim it as their idea.

I love how a thread like this can instantly derail into a 'tea with milk vs tea without milk, THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN' discussion.

Bah! Milk in tea... Yech.

You put ICE and SUGAR in tea!

<<southerner

KodKod, I bet if you were to try fresh picked coffee, when it's still sweet and the most flavorful drink on earth, you'd love it ;)

It's turns bitter about 3 days after picking, and loses about 70% of its flavor. Nasty stuff.

Those aren't real teas, those are tea-resembling spin-offs. Real tea is drunk with just milk and sugar as flavourings.

Jousting, the only true way to settle things. Better get your lance and horse ready.

Did anyone consider that this entire thread is blasphemy and might slow down dwarven production?

Coffee and tea contain caffeine, which has the opposite effect as alcohol does on humans: instead of slowing their reactions and making them sleepy, caffeine lets humans be energized for a longer period.

With dwarves, then, since alcohol appears to be a dwarven stimulant, caffeine might slow them down. And in any case any dwarf who drinks caffeine doesn't consider to be called a dwarf at all. Blasphemy against good *dwarven wine*!

Earl Grey isn't a real tea?

Although really anyone who suggests adding sugar to a hot beverage can and should be ignored. :)

I will kill you with my hands.

This is acceptable, please avoid spilling my blood into the tea though, that wouldn't be acceptable at all. Priorities.
