Mixed bag. I'm disappointed he found my European UFO. Its probably because, from America, he has to go through Europe to get to the places I exploit, and he got lucky.
However, he attacked at night. Foolish idea. I should at least get one kill, if I play it right.
Perfect spot. However, my opponent likes to blow up any cover I get. He will most likely find me and kill me from a distance. I have to get closer.
Guess what! Alien grenades and a plasma rifle. This is one deadly Sectoid.
I move out. My opponent starts blowing up...well, everything. This is dodgy cover.
Few turns later, I move myself around here, making sure to look in the window for any dodgy agents.
Silly humans.
He must have had someone near by, because I am neutralized from behind in his turn.
Plasma Rifles.
I continue to exploit Australia, and start to scout South Africa.
Oooooo. I have an idea.
...and he bites the trap. Using my large scout as bait, I land it near my base. He quickly responds by landing his sky ranger on it, not even shooting it down.
Booyah! Fully equipped, 8 Sectoid ship. Now this is a
real battle.
Instant Death, of course.
I toss a grenade toward the ship. Hopefully I catch some agents unawares. I also lost a Sectoid. Probably reaction fire.
I won't know until the end of the game(I actually lost track, but I think I didn't catch anything).
Defensive formation!
Wasn't expecting that at all.
I'll wait for someone to come around.
So. During his turn he looked through the doorway, but didn't step in. I take a peak out. He's nowhere to be seen. The only place he could be is around the corner. Boy was I right.
Poor Sectoid was short of one TU of making it to safety.
Toss another 'nade. This one also doesn't catch anything, I think.
An explosion goes off behind him(it?). Might have been HE. Or could have been a bad throw. I'm not sure.
Nevertheless, I reaction fire the culprit.
The Sectoid outside gets hit by a light cannon from behind, living with 1 HP. I decide to use him for scouting purposes(he's fatally wounded).
Wheeling around the corner, I try to shoot the X-com soldier with a 1% burst shot(accuracy decreases with wounds). Apparently, he will purposely MISS FIRE even if the agent is directly in front of him(note to self, use grenades next time). He dies.
I catch the light cannon user by popping out of the doorway.
I pop out and catch another soldier. This one wearing armor. She must have been special.
Reinforcements pop that guy. When I send another Sectoid, she reaction fires him too. She must have a high Reaction Fire value.
With one Sectoid left, I hide in a corner and reaction fire another sucker.
Over several turns of intense maneuvering(My hands were literally shaking during my opponents turn), I decide to use the power of mah plasmas and pop through the wall. Walking around a bit, I find nothing, and when I go to return, I find an agent I neglected to look for. I pop him, though I'm out of TUs now and certainly going to die. While 'alting' to show items, I noticed a live grenade. Not sure what that was for.
And an agent comes rushing in and executes my last Sectoid, finishing this
very long mission.
6 fatalities. I'm not sure if that was worth it. I was hoping to keep the ship, but he obviously had brought a full complement of troops. Nevertheless, I popped a few good soldiers. Large Scouts aren't that great anyway, mission value wise. They're just good when being attacked.

SummaryWith those long battles, not much time passed in the Geoscape. Also note: Look at my Elerium value. I have never actually gone bankrupt in Elerium. My base layout must have been top notch this game(for the most part). Hopefully that supply ship will be arriving soon...(if my memory serves me right, it should be January 27th. Though it could be later/earlier)
I have also been having issues with food. Due to having so many Sectoids on my medium scouts, missions cost twice as much food now. I'm going to be making two "junk" medium scouts, to be used specifically in harvesting missions.
