Unless it's been fixed in whatever version you're using, gir, iirc mystcraft has some issues with another mod... either redpower or IC, I think, which is what causes the occasional buggerup. Cavern worlds are particularly prone to it.

One way to reduce the chance of it happening is to just specify one of the other world types before using a new book -- it'll fill in whatever else it needs, so you can just use that one specification and (probably) avoid the crash/lag.

Supposedly you can re-enter the world once it's lagged up the first time and things'll be fine (or at least better), though.

The only way to disable Redpower's worldgen stuff is to disable the entire world module, and everything that relies on it.

NINJA: Yes it is, dunno what you're looking at but my Technic has Mystcraft running just fine.

I got my Technic like a week ago, so it's rather current.  Runs on 1.2.5 and includes Mystcraft.  http://mirror.technicpack.net/files/TechnicLauncher.exe - Firefox reports this as the download location, and it appears the Technic Client will talk to the server to get updates, just like vanilla talks to Mojang servers to check for updates, so whatever you're running should be most recent, it if comes via launcher like that.

Weird, the writing desk won't craft.

The recipe is:

If you're on Technic, you should have NEI, write in the box in the bottom "desk" and then mouse over the writing desk and hit "r" to show the recipe.

Either way, I think you need to reverse the feather and the ink.

Then I have no idea.  But google "mystcraft" and you'll get a direct link to the MC forums and a download link.  Check your location of texture pack via the game menu to find the .technic folder, and instal your mod as usual (goes in the .jar).

Not a bad idea, and Technic via the launcher is incredibly easy.  You just run the launcher, and then you're in Technic!
