UFO: Enemy Unknown
-ULTRAWUSS MODE-

It's that time again! Aliens are invading Earth. The only ones who can stop them? X-COM, an elite force dedicated to the protection of our world. Armed with fierce determination and a near-limitless supply of new recruits to replace the plasma-scarred husks of the last mission's team, this top-secret organization represents humanity's best hope for a better tomorrow.

This LP will probably be very screenshot-light and hopefully a bit succinct, as I tend to find having forty screenshots somewhat overwhelming to read. And do, but this isn't about how lazy I am.

This LP will also feature a special twist in that I SUCK, and thus we will be playing on EXPERIENCED mode, which is one mode above ALIENS SHOOT CUPCAKES.* I might be convinced to go a little higher, but as I have no experience with Veteran or higher, that'll take some convincing.

*To be fair, the cupcakes are still made of plasma.

Finally, this LP will feature a certain amount of inefficiency and dicking around. We will not be researching or not researching things simply because they provide absolutely critical or absolutely no benefit, for instance. I would also appreciate feigned ignorance of the tech tree and unresearched/unencountered alien types.

Current Soldiers

Urist McCannonFodder (Derp Sandvich)

Description: A man with a russian accent ready to take down some alien scum. He needs alcohol to get through the working day, he likes working outdoors and grumbles only mildly at the inclement weather. He absolutely detests Chryssalids.
Equipment: Autocannons with explosive ammo, switch to laser rifles when unlocked. Uses some grenades as well.
Behavior: Shoots at anything that moves, utilizes smoke grenades when entering UFO ships. Prefers to neutralize alien threats ASAP to minimize casualties.

Stone Cold (Jacob/Lee)

Description: A slight British accent. Randomly shouts "EAT IT, BUGGERS" when hitting an alien.
Equipment: Sniper armed with a LAY ZOR rifle (when we get them) and a few smoke grenades. Until then, a normal rifle will do.
Behavior: Always prefers to hang back and snipe alien scum from afar. Likes having a spotter or rear guard so he doesn't get shot in the back while looking out the window. If things get rough, he may panic slightly and throw a smoke grenade nearby then book it while the cloud blocks the alien's view.

Dr. Euchre (EuchreJack)

Description: A scientist who joins X-Com to boss around other scientists.  Hates field research, but acknowledges it as the only way to obtain dominion over his fellow scientists.
Equipment: Pistol, grenades (smoke and regular), flares, med-kits when we have them.
Behavior: Provides smoke for self and allies, hangs back to treat the injuries of allies (even when he doesn't have a medkit!)

Sir Kahn (SeriousConcentrate)

Description: Kind of a dimbulb, but friendly.
Equipment: Pretty much anything is fine, with a slight emphasis on heavy weapons
Behavior: Always runs to help out any of his allies in trouble, whether or not its dangerous or contradicts direct orders

Xenio Nebugolon (UltraValican)

Description:A Mutton(The guys in the opening vid) mercenary. He'll do anything as long as it doesn't get him killed.
Preferences:Don't care. I would like a guy model
Equipment:Shootas gonna shoot
Behavior:Loves to brag about his kills.

Commissar Bane (Sirus)

Description: A man made of bricks, according to the unfortunate soldiers he used to command. Harsh and unflinching, he despises cowards of all sort and will not hesitate to "encourage" his squad. Hates aliens with a passion.
Equipment: Pistol of any kind, autocannon (preferably with incendiary ammo). One grenade.
Behavior: Should execute soldiers that panic (for more than one turn) or start shooting their own comrades. In the event that Bane panics or turns traitor, he should kill himself at first opportunity, taking out any aliens he can in the process.

Miranda Galena (Burnt Pies)

Description: Even more sarcastic than her sister, and filled with rage at Anja's death. Anja stole her best headphones just before she signed up, then went and got herself killed in them.
Equipment: Pistol and 'Nades. Lots of 'Nades.
Behavior: Won't go through a door unless it's been bombed at least 3 times and is covered in smoke.

Skjöldebrand (Delta Foxtrot)

Description: Your average alien killing Nordic conscript.
Equipment: For his/her role I would prefer a spotter/scout. Not the expendable first rookie charging inside an UFO, but instead spotting targets for snipers/heavy weapons. For his/her equipment: pistol and plenty of grenades (both smoke and explodey kind).
Behavior: Use of smokes to cover him-/herself and rest of the squad. If forced to engage the aliens, will attempt to use superior volume of fire by rapid firing the pistol and throwing numerous grenades when possible. Despite his/her vanguard position, Lindholm doesn't have a death wish so keep that in mind when picking squaddies for suicide charges. Due to humble conscript origin, he/she will upvote anything the ranking commander votes when it comes to research goals.

Alucard (Xeron)

Description: Sarcastic even in the face of death Alucard cannot die,as he merely regenerates. He is quite insane at times and enjoys all kinds of combat.
Equipment: Plasma pistol once we have access to them. Also some grenades and psi equipment
Behavior: He loves being shot and shooting but that doesn't mean he's a idiot that runs right in the alien menace and gets killed.

Future Soldiers

JacenHanLovesLegos

Name: Jacen-001
Description: A clone from Cloney Inc designed to breach UFOs and make things safer make less usefull people die.
Preferences: Anything for now, but when power armor is researched an HE Autocannon.
Behavior: Charges wildly into UFOs, follows orders mindlessly, attempts to steal Maxclones glory as much as possible. When it dies, make another clone with the serial number moved forward.

MonkeyHead
Name: KB-Series Combat Droid(s). [KB-2]
Description: Designed to be armed to the teeth and highly expendible, these droids appear to like causing massive explosions, and killing things. Sometimes this even includes the enemy.
Preferences: Any combination of stats that lead to Banzaii glory and death moments wold be fine.
Equipment: Heavy weapons - big machine guns, explosives, grenade and rocket launchers.
Behavior: Exhibit no self preservation at all whatsoever. Run at the enemy all guns blazing at each and every opportunity. Of course, whatever bits can be recovered later can be recycled into a new droid...

Sonlirain
Name: Sunny Rain
Description: Slavic accent. Speaks broken english. Conservative christian.
Preferences: Male (can be female), high accuracy if possible.
Equipment: Heavy Laser (when availble) Rifle/Laser Rifle (before Heavy laser is availble) at least 2 proxy grenades.
Behavior: Uses aimed shots unless the enemy is ~5 spaces away or less.
Wannabe sniper.
Claims that plasma weapons are unholy and refuses to touch them.
Uses the term "Daemons" instead of "Aliens" (or whatever term you would use normally).
Rose from the dead due to faith and untimely demise.

hostergaard

Name: Jihad Jamal (or Jihad Jenny if female)
Description: The Grand Mufti of Islam have issued a jihad against the godless aliens. Many answered this call, naturally Jihad Jamal was the first to follow the fatwa and joined xcom where he believed he would stand the greatest chance of killing these new infidels.
Preferences: Prioritize reaction fire and time units, some throwing, strength and bravery might be useful too.
Equipment: High explosive, guns or whatever can be shot with one hand, Nades of any kind.
Behavior: He enters the battlefield with a high explosive in his hands. He primes the high explosive to zero and places it in the middle of his belt (Note; if I remember correctly they only explode if they touch the ground, if not, use grenades instead). Thus, when he dies or faints everything goes boom.

He likes to get up and personal with the aliens so if he dies he takes them with him.  He scouts areas and relies on his reactionary abilities as a gunslinger to take out whatever he meets. He is also loaded with a lot of proximity mines to lay out traps/roadside bombs for the enemy. Don't go where Jamal have been!

If there is too many enemies he softens them up with throwing in explosives (high explosives if he is strong enough, if not then just whatever grenades, fire, explosive, proximity or whatever else that goes boom) .

Mephansteras
Name: Shadow
Gender: Either
Role: Scout - Try to leave enough TUs for reaction fire at the end of a turn
Equipment: Laser Pistol, smoke grenades, flares, and either a stun rod or motion scanner.
Stats: High Reaction is required (45+ if you can get it), good bravery and TUs are a plus
Description: A sneaky recruit who is rather jumpy. Good reaction times are helpful, but no one is quite sure what Shadow is really up to.

Name: Brian O'Malley

Equipment: Autocannon, or other heavy weapons. Explosive/Incendiary ammo.
Behavior: Will willingly charge into a UFO. Dislikes not getting to go in first.

I'm with Xanaton. Put the base somewhere in europe since you will cover many countries this way.

I made some modifications to make this character more lulzy.
It's still before the game started after all.

Funfact - Making Laser cannons for aircraft gives the highest profit per engineer in the game.

Graveyard

Oscar The Wilde (Phantom)

Description: Oscarre is your standard British gentlemen. In fact, he might be two, as he has split personalities, Cary Elwes, and Stephan Fry. And occasionally, they do both speak at the same time, making this cool thing with two voices.
Equipment:  Any variety of rifles will do, but ultimately heavy plasma or a blaster launcher in desperate situations.
Behavior: Cautious, often letting his teammates spot for him.
-
Cause of Death: Fatal wounds inflicted by a Sectoid ambush.
Location of Death: Mission 1
-
Achievements:
-First Blood: Oscar has the dubious distinction of being the first casualty of X-COM.
-Sectoid Menace: Oscar has the dubious distinction of being the first Sectoid-inflicted casualty of X-COM.
-Could Have Saved Him: With proper medical attention, it's possible Oscar could have survived his wounds. His death stands as a testament to the price of inadequate medical equipment.

KB Series Combat Droid (MonkeyHead)

Description: Designed to be armed to the teeth and highly expendible, these droids appear to like causing massive explosions, and killing things. Sometimes this even includes the enemy.

Cause of Death: Gunned down by a Sectoid hiding amongst the darkness and smoke.
Location of Death: Mission 1
-

Lindholm (Delta Foxtrot)

Description: Your average alien killing Nordic conscript.
Equipment: For his/her role I would prefer a spotter/scout. Not the expendable first rookie charging inside an UFO, but instead spotting targets for snipers/heavy weapons. For his/her equipment: pistol and plenty of grenades (both smoke and explodey kind).
Behavior: Use of smokes to cover him-/herself and rest of the squad. -All Clear: Lindholm's cursory scouting efforts failed to reveal a lethal Sectoid waiting in ambush.

Sunny Rain (Sonlirain)

Equipment: Heavy Laser (when availble) Rifle/Laser Rifle (before Heavy laser is availble) at least 2 proxy grenades.
Behavior: Uses aimed shots unless the enemy is ~5 spaces away or less.

Uses the term "Daemons" instead of "Aliens" (or whatever term you would use normally).
-
Cause of Death: Slain while trying to enter a building, by a Sectoid firing from the other side of said building.
Location of Death: Mission 1
-
Achievements:
-Aw Crap: Sunny Rain got to experience the horror and dread of having a plasma bolt pass directly between her and a squadmate from behind.
-OH YEAH!: There was a wall between Sunny and her killer. It didn't help.

Anja Galena (Burnt Pies)

Description: Fairly sarcastic and irreverant, but will always attempt to carry out her orders. Listens to songs by Electric Six when in combat.
Equipment: The best Rifle available, with a couple of Grenades.

Brian O'Malley (Xanatos Jr.)

Description: Heavy Irish accent.
Equipment: Autocannon, or other heavy weapons. Explosive/Incendiary ammo.
Behavior: Will willingly charge into a UFO. Dislikes not getting to go in first.

Maxclone I (MaximumZero)

Description: Clones of a generic citizen who died of mysterious, alien related circumstances. The Maxclones come from an incomplete human DNA strand found amongst the rubble of an alien wreck.
Equipment: The Maxclones were designed with heavy weaponry in mind. They are best equipped with heavy weapons, including rocket launchers and heavy cannons. Maxclones also tend to be very fond of grenades.
Behavior: The Maxclones tend to mentally degenerate as time goes on, starting out lucid and socially functional. However, when placed under strain, their mental faculties quickly deteriorate, and the Maxclones turn into gibbering, sociopathic, pyromaniac lunatics. In this state, the only things that the Maxclones respond to are violence and humor. At this point, it is best to ensure their termination, preferably in a hilarious manner. Because of their rapid destabilization, it is recommended that the Maxclones be released from their "habitats" individually.

Maxclones, reporting for duty!

Name: Maxclone I, II, III, IV, V, and VI.
Description: Clones of a generic citizen who died of mysterious, alien related circumstances. The Maxclones come from an incomplete human DNA strand found amongst the rubble of an alien wreck.
Preferences: Stats, gender, skin color, etc, vary between clones. So long as the clones are potentially viable soldiers, this is within the acceptable margins.
If more Maxclones are required, they can be requisitioned by filling out Form A-19██████.

Maxclones, reporting for duty!
...are you requesting six simultaneous, heavily armed, explosive-laden soldiers who rapidly go berserk at the slightest setback?

Though you can release several at once if you so desire. ;)

Commander GlyphGryph, reporting for duty once more. Obviously, my promotion to this new x-com will, as always, override my previous rank for a standard entry level rank, but that is merely one of the multitude of sacrifices I am willing to make to participate in the war against the secret alien menace. I've served my country, and now its time to serve the people of the world. My my children's children remember me well if I die here, knowing that what I did was for the good of all of us.

A natural leader, I look forward to eventually leading my own squad in action against this threat.

I don't particularly care which weapons I use. Whatever's appropriate for the situation.
