Also where's Belgium? I think see the Netherlands, but it looks like Belgium isn't going to be it's own state.

Little frown from me for that, since the Viccy Tutorials have you play through as Belgium it was generally the state I played.
And fuck me if you could keep Belgium as a world power! The best I manage to do was keep it as a world power for like 45-60ish years, and sadly that with a like a 30 something year break in the middle.

I dont know, I guess I still dont strongly understand how the econ or facotories work. As that's the score that always hurt me. I can be 3-5th ranked in Prestige, and have like the third strongest military, but my Industrial score would always be 14-18th.

And I could never make Java into a State.

I've always leveraged the Miracle of Capitalism to get my small powers to the lead in industry. My 1910 Japan is fourth industrially, and I haven't touched any factories in a long time.

Anno Domini 1836

The flames of revolution have died down. Over 400 years since the great Timurid hordes ravaged the landscape, since the kingdoms of olde existed. Now, great empires stand. Austria, the Holy Roman Emperor, stands over it's flock of German kingdoms. The Ottoman Empire, always believed to be an upstart heathen state, long ago collapsed, leaving a power vacuum that exists to this day.

In Asia, India is split between the powerful Maratha Confederacy and the Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie. The Ming Empire stands tall, having survived the ravages of losing the Mandate of Heaven, then regaining it. Africa remains mostly untouched, the coast claimed by various european powers, yet the african kingdoms of Mali and Songhai having survived.

New nations have formed, on ideas of equality and liberty. In the Caribbean, nations such as Quebec and Haiti. In North America, the powerful Republic of Louisiana stands ahead of Mexico, the United States of America, and Canada. In South America, many new nations have formed, such as Brazil and Venezuela, while older nations such as Burgundy and Lubeck have shifted their capitals to the continent, having long lost their European base of power.


Now, a new fire burns. One that powers the great engine of industry, beginning to start up. Who will rise? Who will fall? Who will become a truly great power in this

Now, I have a decision to make. There are many nations to choose from, and many paths to take. I'll start a poll of people's most popular choices. Some suggestions are:

The Netherlands, which I played for over 400 years and is in a nice position to claim number 1
Wallachia, which someone suggested earlier
Oman, which holds all of Arabia and parts of North Africa
Louisiana, which can seize a manifest destiny and conquer North America
USA, who is in a small area of North America, but with powerful events can conquer all of North America
Ming, a decrepit empire which will surely collapse
Persia, a partially-westernized behemoth who will certainly blaze forward

There's a huge amount of nations, many of whom are in great positions. While the Netherlands is in an almost guaranteed-position of 1st with it's massive population and already thriving industry, there's no telling what will happen.
