Ha... that's actually pretty good!
Not sure how relevant the lyrics are apart from the title, though. :P

Also, I'd forgotten just how good the lineup for the show on Saturday was. Wow.
So many bands I am excited to see for the first time, so many bands I have fond memories of seeing in the past... it's going to be amazing.

I just discovered Tengger Cavalry.  Mongolian folk metal.  It's surprisingly awesome.
Try Nine Treasures. They rock, and are also Mongolian folk metal.

Let it be known that I disagree with that insinuation.

I actually thought Nightwish was just decent before they took on Floor.  I never cared for Tarja's singing.  For me, their songwriting is consistently mediocre as compared to similar bands.  Like a song or two that's fantastic on each album, but everything else I'd only listen to once with mild interest.  On top of that, most of those exceptional songs I didn't recognize until Floor sang them.  Imaginaerum is the exception - I love everything I've heard from that album.... but I've yet to listen to the actual studio album in its entirety as sung by Olzon (who I actually liked).  I have the Showtime, Storytime album (as in I actually bought it) and have played it to death.  Now they've put out their first studio album with Floor... and I'm actually pretty disappointed by it.  I was braced for epic, and found it incredibly mild.

I listened to Blind Guardian's "At The Edge Of Time."
I was not disappointed.

I've been repping Tengger Cavalry since way back.

Here's some stuff you probably haven't heard of.

Diocletian.  I believe this would fall under the weird-ass genre of Canadian "war metal" which mostly preoccupies itself with a secretive ideology called "superion" that I'm not kvlt enough to know more about.

Mitochondrion is also somewhere in that genre but probably more well known and less hung up on the Superion thing, or you can try Revenge for some real viciousness.

If you like Tengger Cavalry and want some more folkish metal that isn't dorks with viking helmets, here's Gyibaaw, a defunct band from the Tsimshian first nations peoples in British Columbia.  Their stuff that isn't already on youtube will be very hard to find.

Still Canadian I noticed.  Weird.

To veer in a completely non-Canadian direction, here's Lord Vicar.  This is about as paint by numbers as you can get to the point that I frequently forget their name.  Still, it's a good formula to mimic.

Cough is good too.  This song though I'd give a 4/10. The music's great but they tried to cheat the feedback rule and put it later on.  All sludge metal must begin with a painful feedback screech.  It's the law.

Cough is awesome! Yay! A band I know and like! :))

Edit: Interesting to hear something a bit more up-tempo and rock 'n' roll-y from them. I need to listen to more Cough.

Now for something quite different: Not my favourite song of theirs, but that song title is brilliant enough to make up for it.
They're a local band, too! Haven't seen them live yet, they're currently on a bit of a hiatus whilst working on an album or some such thing.

Been listening to a lot of my fave 90s stuff lately.  Real good sh*t, IMO.

At the moment, rocking out to some Corrosion of Conformity-Albatross

I love the AIC vibe of this one!

Wait how did that even happen?

Oh ... nevermind. Apparently the one year old Kivish Ilidcatten is strong enough to take on a GCS. I don't even...
