Three bands that truly blew my mind last Saturday.
Thrall.
Funeral Moon.
Encircling Sea. (Warning: Very long songs.)

It was a freakin' awesome show. ^-^
And as a bonus have these guys. I just discovered them the other day and have listened to that song many times. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see them live sometime soon.

I'm really digging Encircling Sea. They're only the second band to have ever pulled off screamo in a way I actually enjoy.

Edit: twenty minutes later, I'm guessing this is the band that nearly put you to sleep?

Sorry for the late reply- yes, yes it was! Like a fuzzy warm blanket of blackenedness. ^-^

Now, where was I... ah yes.
Talk about relatable lyrics! And an excellent video, too.

Man, good feels, I've been taking time out for nostalgia. Rhapsody's one of the bands that taught me that the degree to which an album cover resembles a D&D book correlates with the quality of the music.

Man, I've been listening to an odd mix of Sabaton, Rammstein, and a few other bands. The jump to Rhapsody was quite a jump! I keep meaning to listen to some of there stuff, though, so thanks.

Yeah, they've just got the perfect power metal mix of cheesy nerdiness and surprising emotional power.

I have been forced to concede that there is, in fact, more than one folk metal band that isn't utter shit.
Skálmöld- I found these guys completely by accident, they turn out to be really good even if they have too many dots and squiggles in their name.

Korpiklaani- a friend showed the rest of us this video last night.
I'm not sure if it's the amusing video (check that fiddle player!), the few words I can catch of the lyrics, or just the rockin' music (once you get past the first few seconds) but I actually really like it. I'm pretty sure I'd only heard one Korpiklaani song before and that was also good, but I must have dismissed it as a fluke. There's also another band called Finntroll that I already knew I somewhat enjoyed.

Now that I've got that off my chest, here's some thrash to wash the folk-tinged taste of shame from my mouth.
That sounded weird...

There's nothing wrong with enjoying Korpiklaani, Yoink, they're pretty great.

Speaking of good bands, there's also Falconer and Stratovarius.
