I can never take bands with ridiculous medical lyrics seriously.

Why? You dont like them?
I like medical lyrics becouse most of time they need some research about this stuff. Also early Carcass was medical too.
I enjoy medical lyrics more than standard gore lyrics like Cannibal Corpse.

Probably thats why they are used with pentagrams on covers of Satanic Black Metal albums.

There was tech death in one of my posts. Well thats rather not much known one.
Oh, Viraemia. I remember it as the band I have no opinion on, because it just crushes my brain in a way that is neither bad nor good.

Anyway, every metal thread needs an "upcoming/new albums" post. So...

New SoP (tech death) is badass, just as expected from one of the tech death giants.
New Gorod (tech death) is amazing. So far seems to be more technical and more groovy than their older albums. I'm kind of disappointed that they ditched the proggy stuff from their Transcendence EP.
New Meshuggah (genre: Meshuggah) is receiving mixed reactions, mostly due to being pretty much "ObZen II". I don't know, I like it. ObZen was awesome~

Too lazy to remember other news.

This. When lyrics just seem like random conditions, it's just silly.

Here's some Autopsy.

This is what I think of when I think of good death metal

The proper organ for hearing death metal riffs is the intestines.

Isis is pretty neat. Though my favorite part of them is that they inspired Pelican, and Pelican is just plain badical.

From the Neurosis/Isis/Pelican school;

Rosetta. Probably my favourite of this type of band. They are probably more different and diverse than most of the others, despite having only three full lengths. They tend to involve a lot of ambient and samples, often to build wall of sound, sometimes alone. Their first album was two disks. One Isis/Neurosis style post-metal, one ambient, both designed to be played together. Gimmick, but worked wonderfully.

Ayil. Short sharp introduction to their basic style.
Red In Tooth And Claw. Long form of the above.
Monument. Hypnotic but intense. Wonderful.
TMA-1. Instrumental. Gentle. Beautiful. And yes, a 2001 reference.
Blue Day For Croatoa. Instrumental. Very gentle. Includes a distorted BSG clip in the intro.
Homesick. Cure cover. Good song to hear their basic effects setup.
Au Pays Natal/Sol. The last track on their first album. It's hard to find good quality uploads of the combined version of these. Just listen.

...

I may be a little obsessed.

Hmm...I wonder what's going on in Germany's Tech Death scene?
*Goes to Encyclopedia Metallum, uses advanced search to find German Tech Death albums released in 2007 or newer, discovers Jack Slater, Common Grave, Deadborn and Phobiatic*
...Is my thought process weird?..Is this why I know so many horribly-obscure-even-for-metal bands?

Edit: Holy shit, another find~
This time by searching for bands similar to Gorguts. Encyclopedia Metallum is awesome. : O

Edit: Encyclopedia Metallum is worse than TvTropes...
