Aloyssius reporting for duty. I found my old char's password, he's nothing special since apparently skills reset when you move servers now. :/ Oh well grinding is half the fun in wurm!

The epic servers are new characters - fresh start and they learn faster.  Still a rough grind to true mastery for most skills, but if you take that character back to where it came from, it's old skills will be there.

Hey guys, is now on Moot's settlement.
The place is very nice, but perhaps nice to the point that we can do nothing to improve it.

It may or may not suit anyone, though. Chances are, if we start something ourselves, it could meet its end in such splendor.

So for much of the time we've been here I put together almost all the materials for a guard tower, I did all the work myself, so I decided to sell it for myself. I tried Teseng but he didn't go for my reasonable offer. So if there are any other nearby settlements we can sell it to please say so.

I say we go to Moot's mountain. I remember him when I played a long time ago, and he was a pretty decent person. And I really like his offer.

Dun get me wrong, I love his place, but it is too much of a finished product and too hard to improve.

Well, there's something to be said about looking at a finished place and being able to say "We did that." instead of just moving in somewhere and living there.

It's up to you guys though, i'm up for where ever we decide to go. I'm sure we can find a nice empty spot if we look for it. If it requires lots of terraforming I'll help with it as much as is needed.

Well I found a place (Lightshore's Cornchips) on the SB canal, most of the walls, and a tower are in place, but a ton of work still needs to be done. Dirt embankments be placed, more walls built, houses planned, and built, resources gathered, more guard towers erected, etc. It would take a lot of work, and the place would might be raided later, but if we move in quickly enough we can get the missing palisade gates up, and two more guard towers placed before anyone even knew we were there. This would also put us close enough to become good allies/trading partners with Lightshore, who seem to be really cool. Anyway its a group decision, but even if the rest of you guys don't I may settle down here myself.

How many active people do we have?

I was just thinking, if we want to be real dwarfy, "losing is fun" dwarfy, we could set up on one of the raider canals and try to build a fortress on it. I'm assuming if we do this we wouldn't have a deed, and given most of us are new we probably wouldn't have anything worth stealing, so it would just be a barricade for the raiders to go through; even if we're just a speed bump it would probably benefit the rest of the map. And then we could rebuild the fort even stronger. Later if we want something more permanent we could move again, but with how quiet the last site was I guess I'm hoping for more action.

This is all just theorizing, though; I've never played Wurm on a PvP server before.

Hi all,

I know I haven't been too active or helpful, but with spring break upon me most of the difficult part of my semester is over.

I'm a big fan of enjoying something created with the hands of the group. Would you want to move into a already built fort? One with a terrible organization system and stockpiles 40tiles away from workshops!? Nay I say.

I'm all for finding another spot to strike the earth from.

You will get respect from the PVP folks if you do this.  You will also be attacked regularly.

One thing though, if you are free-to-play characters, don't abuse the respawn mechanic and irritate raiders.  After you die a few times, either log off, or tell the raiders that you want to go do something else, and don't want to continuously spam them with free account attack spamming.

You will want either a tower or a deed to kill off tougher animals if you are all newer players.  Either that, or lots of buildings to run between.

Don't lock your big buildings, only lock small buildings that are easy to replace.

Don't try to breed good animals, and don't plant all of your crops at any time, keep a good reserve.

You will want lots of low stone walls, and lots of shortbows to shoot raiders over the walls if you are premium players.

Many, many other things to think about.
