Why is there a single orbital plane for the entire solar system, rather than a different one for each orbiting body? I expect the reason has something to do with the whole disk of rotating gas and dust that everything coalesced out of, but why did that compress into a disk instead of clumping randomly would be the next question.

Why do people play chess by themselves? In a library, some man is playing chess by himself and also looks very happy.

When I'm in a real chess playing mood, I'm always let down when I play other people, because I think about all of my possible moves, then all of their possible moves for each move I make, so really I do all the thinking they should do for the next turn before I even take my turn.  When I play people that don't play like that they let me down by not doing the best move they could which always results in me winning,  I could see why someone would play chess by themselves,
Maybe he's very happy because he finally understands chess,
If he's taking a while between each move, then he's really thinking about everything a few moves ahead.

I don't know if I could play against myself though,  If I think I knew where my opponent would go, and my opponent was me, I'd always go there.  It'd be like a computer playing against itself.

Oh, oh, that's an easy one. It's because reality hates all living things and wants to return to void and stillness. Naturally, that which damages the self the most is that which takes the least effort, because avoiding the natural state of reality -- which desires your end, inasmuch as it desires anything -- takes effort. The more effort you expend, the further from the universe's desire you find yourself, i.e. the easier you make things for yourself. The less effort you expend, the closer to annihilation you come, i.e. the harder you make things for yourself.

It's simple :)

Why is making it hard always the easiest way?
Because you'll never actually be forced to get good at living if you don't set Life's difficulty setting to "Very Hard".

Rock a'by baby, on the tree top,
when the wind blows your cradle will rock,
then the bough breaks, your cradle will fall
and down will come baby, cradle and all...

Sorry for the doublepost, but I had another question and needed this topic to be flagged as unread for some of you people so it might be answered.

Ok, so.. If fat is a way of your body of storing energy, and the calorie is a unit that measures energy, why isn't the fat content factored in to the calorie count?
