I have a couple sketches from an older adventure back in 40d, though it was never finished. It involved
an older spearman, a young freed prisoner girl, an angry goblin-raised axe wielding dude, and a friendly hero that held them all together
(goblin raised guy, Bax, in back, and hero Wakos in front). The girl, Ako,
grows up and gets kind of weird and obsessive towards the guy who rescued her,
but he turns her down because she's sort of crazy. They eventually fall to ruin
(eaten by GCS) and only the old spearman, Bese, survives... he remains
hovering around the cave where all his friends died. He struck down the spider before he escaped with his life, but lost all his fire after that.
The world was only 32 years old, and I decided it had
just been created by the gods and the civilizations had just progressed past a basic hunter-gatherer level.
I was VERY invested, and did a bunch of side things including
· using VisualFortress to get 3D blueprints of the towns and
starting to paint over them.
·
using Terragen 2 to create fractal alterations on the starting heightmap·
Starting to hand-draw the (Huuuuge) world map. I was planning on making it watercoloury looking. Jeez, I really need to start smaller in the future.
· I started to
draw all of the Oloomon pantheon (the main human civ I was focusing on), but I never got past two. Oops.
·
Here's a rough thing of all of the civ symbols based on the little overhead map symbols you see on the History map. Dwarves were on the left, Goblins in the center, Humans on the right. The little circles inside of the Dwarven and Human civ circles represented each civ's pantheons. Oloomon is the half maroon, half red one on the right there. The goblins I got more wacky with, and
used their hilarious civ names or overmap decals to define their cult symbols. Unfortunately I can't remember the names nowadays. Oh well.
