Yeah, let's do autopilot for the first run.  Once they train some, they can drive.

Turn 18: 1963-1964
Note: In an attempt to speed up turns, I will now only recalculate designs on demand, rather then always.
Also on Taikonaut training, you can increase the training speed. ( Speed training run) but that might result in casualties.

Research:
Dr Smith will improve our commercial battery technology (free). Work here progresses quite fast.
Lab 1 with the help of Konrad Becker will reduce the weight of the reusable single stage hull. If it gets reduced to the minimum work on increasing the reuse chance (-$1000) Work here goes quite fast.
Lab 2 will increase the fuel capacity of the small AC thruster (-$3000) Work here goes quite fast too.
Lab 3 will increase the power of the solid fuel (-$1000) Work here goes quite fast
Research cost: $5000

Design:
Hyperion RLV (Reusable Launch Vehicle)
Weight: 2760
Thrust:4015
Payload:1255
Price:1000
10m reusable single stage hull (1310kg)
1 small AC thruster (100kg)
6m fuel tank (6*225=1350kg)
3m payload space

Design Cost: $1500+cost of Hyperion

Construction:
Build a battery factory (-$5000) Done
Construction cost:$5000

Production:
1 Redstone II (-$775)
1 SEA satellite (-$1000)
Production cost: $1775

Launch:
Launch the SEA satellite using a Redstone II rocket. The SEA satellite will be carrying as many of the companies' experiments as possible.

While the launch isn't spectaculary succesfull, the experiments are. Ads go around the world, and because your compagny is mentioned on every single one , you do manage to get some extra prestige.
+10.000
+2 prestige
(That was a good PR roll)

Other:
Announce that we are going to send a probe into orbit around Mars in the next 2 years. While your announcement is succesfull, nobody really cares.
Retire the Redstone I design.

Total cost: $14275

C.H.A.S.E. Yearly report

CHASE

Research:
Lab 1st floor: Improve the success chance of space suits. Work progresses. Safety maxed . Work time increased.
Lab 2nd floor: Space Stations: Theoretical. ($3000) Work her progresses, but not remarcably fast.
Lab 3rd floor (Shaiming Hu): Docking Bay weight reduction Work here goes fast.
Lab 4th floor (Yi shing): 4m space station exercise/physical therapy module to increase possible stay duration. Work here ges really fast;

Design & Production
None.

Retool laboratory floor 4 for space station research. (2500) Done.( Note, I'm not going to note this in the sheet)

Missions:
None.

Taikonaut Recruitment:
Spend $4000 recruiting people of at least .75 skill. (I wish to retire the numerical designations of dead taikonauts and continue on from nine.) Done

Other:
Aerospace department investment (year 3 of 5) ($1000)
Give Toaster whatever docking system data I research this turn.
Keep a copy of the current docking system blueprints

Total expenses: $12,500 (

STARS Yearly report

Research
-Dr Faust increases the efficiency of the Large thrusters (or reduces the weight if that is maxed) Work here goes fast.
-Dr Barrueco works on a more efficient liquid fuel that will work with current thrusters. A small explosion is heard through the lab. No permanent damage, but no gains either.

Design
El Perajo Cantor II updated
Weight: 2069.5kg
8m Fuel tanks = 1352kg
Max payload at stabilised GEO = 145.68kg (with 2 boosters)

Explorador max payload: 348.5kg at stabilised GEO
Alexis shall redesign the Explorador to be more stable. Done

Missions
Launch an El Perajo Cantor II with two boosters and a Comm sat to stabilised GEO.
Done. While hindered by it's short life times, you do get soem prestige out of this. +3

Other
Scrap the space for the Regained II in the warehouse.

Expenditure:
4500 (3k thrusters, 1k fuel, 500 Comm sat)

DWARF Yearly report.
Research:

Research:
Sleeping Quarters:  Extend the maximum stay.  (1k?)  One of the scientists got stuck in the new prototype pod, no progress was made.

[Electronics Expert] Computer Feedback:  Increase the safety improvement.  (2k) Work here progresses quite fast.

[Fuel Scientist] Can we increase the safety of Solid Fuel?  If not, increase its power. Work here goes quite fast.

[Thruster Scientist]  Large thruster:  More power. (3k) Work goes quite fast.

Designs:

[Personal Design]
Try to increase the reentry safety margin on the Explorer even more. Done

Building:

Expand the car engine factory again.  (10k) Done

Other:

Launch the Explorer!  Take it for a cruise to LEO and bring it back home.  Crew it with 'nauts 3, 4, and 5. The whole launch goes fluently, as does the return flight, all engines and systems work optimally. The press doesn't spend to much attention to it though. +2 prestige.

Expenses:  18k  (8k Research, 10k construction)

Kingfisher: ASC monthly report

Research:
Mass drivers: Work here goes slowly but the first small(in the sense that there are fireworks that produce mor power)magnetical drivers will be ready soon. However Research is held back by the inferior quality of the magnets.
element synthesisisation: No progress is made( What are you trying to accomplish with this, anyway)

Manufacture: More D1's. Another d1 is made. While it can't stay long enough to make pictures of all important buildings, it does manage to make a height map of some( Sensor=/= camera). The resolution is quite bad though.

Launch:.A d1. Take pictures of the eiffel tower, statue of liberty, kremlin, pyramids etc. etc.
Other: *sigh* Hold a giant press conference looking for scientists. Spend 5000.
You manage to attract 2 scientists. A fuel scientist and a general science scientist.
Spend 3000$ on propaganda wherein an Austrian scientist grabs a west German flag and burns it with the hot plasma of a VASIMIR. Slogan: Is the German space program getting you somewhere? No.
The propaganda footage doesn't work out. The Vasimir engine explodes 3 times, then the camera burns out, but in the end the chairman of the German space program resigns, so you won right?

Note: I'm like the north Korea of this game..( Not my fault)

10 k+rocket price

C.a.s.p.

German Scientist develops a more powerful thruster.-more powerful ones Research doesn't progress.
I continue improving the solar panels. Work progresses.
Spare lab develops power storage batteries.  Work here progresses, but not much.

Other: Pay the university student that showed an interest in joining us some money so that he can finish his education. Specifically, I would prefer a scientist with a specialization in orbital satelites/space stations. Done
Donate $500 to charity.
Nobody thinks better of you. Instead you get an unofficial memo telling you not to waste governement money.

@Khashyk, the most efficient system at the moment is the VASIMIR engine( that's the most efficient one I have stats written for) but that one requires magnet research.

I'm fine on my promise if I launch the station on turn 20 ('65-'66), right?
Can I get the base stats of 3m and 4m station modules?

Toaster: I'd rather take over the sleeping quarters research.
Could we launch a test mission to practice a joint station deployment, using your Explorer Mk IIs and fake plastic model parts? I'll supply suits and, if you wish, Taikonaut One[1.46].
I don't think I got an answer on my question about rental price for one of your shuttles. I'd have to drop everything else to get my own vehicle safe enough.

ABout that bonus, I'll give you it but your magnet theorems will only work for thrusters.( So no mass drivers, or other supermagnet thingies)

Yes.
Gimme a moment.

Small station part(1m):
Weight: 400
Can contain:
Small lifesupport(3 People)(Small)
Storage area(Doubles storage capacity)
Small Power and computing hub( minimum 1 per station: command center) A small command station can support a station of up to 10 modules
Other
Storage capacity:100
Power required: 0.2 ( 1 solar panel= 1)

Medium station part:(2 m)
Weight: 600
Can contain:
Medium lifesupport(9 People)
Storage area(Doubles storage capacity)
Power and computing hub( minimum 1 per station: command center) A small command station can support a station of up to 25 modules
Other
Storage capacity:300
Power required: 0.25 ( 1 solar panel= 1)

Large station part (3M)
Weight: 800
Can contain:
Storage area(Doubles storage capacity)
Large airlock
Power and computing hub( minimum 1 per station: command center) A small command station can support a station of up to 40 modules
Other:
Storage capacity:500
Power required: 0.4

Large station part (4M)
Weight: 1000
Can contain:
Storage area(Doubles storage capacity)
Large airlock
Power and computing hub( minimum 1 per station: command center) A small command station can support a station of up to 60 modules
Other:
Storage capacity:800
Power required: 0.5

Also note that your current technology caps out at 5. From then on you have to come up with something new if you want larger station parts. ( Like inflatible parts, origami parts, accordeon parts... Idon't know)

Okay, okay, and why rent one as opposed to have me handle launches?  You mean so you can use your launch pad as well?

Regarding test launch, I think it'd be a good idea to have a split crew (mine and yours.)  Given I can do two launches each year, how many do you want to do?

Also, I did a recalc on my shuttle, and got this:

Quote
Explorer Space Shuttle Mk II
Height: 20m
Weight:  11416 kg
Available Payload: 4052.75
Thrust: 15468.75 kg
Price: 7400
Safety: 1%+ 10%(reentry)

Components:

Space Shuttle hull (20m): 20*300 = 6000kg
Large thruster (2 meter): 335kg, 15468.75 kg To LEO
XL normal fuel tanks  (3*5 meter): 4500 kg
Computer Feedback:  100kg
Cockpit module (3 meter):  481 kg

With a 4k payload, it shouldn't need many launches at all.

Note that launching with that shuttle would mean makeshift taping the cargo on.( There's no room for payload)  While this may worl out the chance of cargo loss does exist.

Also Toaster, I'm afraid that finding transport for the shuttle is going to be hard, so there might be some costs there.
