the words shall be Loyal and Hardworking

8 each stat.  We can make super specialized beings later, let's make this one balanced.

I love how he did most of the ritual with the hands in the pockets.  :P

8 in all stats, going with balanced.

Wise and Hardworking.

I'm unsure on Loyal (defends you until it's death) but why wise: You will need guidance, and mistakes are easily made early on (no meta on death of main character). Also, the spirit may be able to give essential information that you may not know, at all.

A wise spirit would try to weasel out of it's bound state.  A bit risky.

I guess you're right, but I can't help but feel worried.  A ruthless spirit would probably manipulate an outside force into killing us or forcing us to release the spirit.  Without true loyalty from the spirit...

I'm gonna go with 8 for each stat as I agree with NRDL, however I think Obsessive and Wise would make more sense. The thing isn't going to hard us anyway and obsessive will mean that it will be focused on our goal, with wise to help it achieve that.

(also it means there is plenty of scope for everything to go wrong)

We're gonna want to go with loyal for one of them.  It cant harm us or act against our orders... directly.  If we dont take loyal, then unless one of you guys is a lawyer, that thing will misinturperet everything we tell it to do, and constantly be trying to find loopholes and things, as well as nastier stuff that I can't even think of right now because I just woke up.  Point is, we want a minion who will fufil our orders in spirit and intent, not just follow it to the letter.

I like you.

Too much could go wrong if we just assume that this spirit is a robotic being, having no mind, where in fact it's probably an autonomous creature which is only bound by magic, which could, given the right circumstances, be dispelled.

So yeah.  LOYALTEH.
