I think I may have done something wrong. I put the files in the raws folder, generated a new world, made a fort, and the dinosaurs spawned. However, after I'd built some cage traps, I sent a dwarf out to lure a spinosaur back into the trap. Instead of chasing the tasty dwarf, it ran the other way. Aren't the large predators (spinosaur, tyrannosaur, and the smaller ones like the raptor species, for that matter) supposed to be aggressive?

It's nothing you did wrong, I assure you. If they showed up in game, you installed the mod correctly. I'll investigate why they're behaving like Benign creatures; at the moment, I don't see the cause. Is it just Spinosaurs, or are the other large carnivores being skittish too?

Hell, I had a giant tiger run away from my Dwarves before, and that's not a custom creature.

Turns out he was leading my dwarven hunting group out to a secluded area where he could isolate the fastest runner and gnaw on him for a bit.  Silly tiger hadn't accounted for the intense power of seven dwarves with obsidian swords and spears.

Just a note: I'm starting work on the Neanderthal add-on pack for Prehistoria. It'll be done when it's done, hopefully within a week but no guarantees. There are a lot of new tags to learn.

Still some work to do here; there's too many aquatic deities and apparently they choose ALL matching spheres to represent, which is a bit boring. Also, surnames don't seem to be matching spheres, so I'll have to look into that as well.

[POWER] creatures always represent all the spheres they're defined as representing.

Yeah, I noticed that. The problem was that I had all the creatures of a type having the same spheres; ie, all the aquatics had fish and oceans as their spheres. I've fixed it by making sure no two POWER dino-gods have the same set of spheres.

What happens if you make a god-creature that dies?

Bad wording there, I meant "dies of old age."

Because then nobody could really cause a huge state-church schism.

In order to be a valid target for the POWER tag, creatures must be immortal and intelligent. In order to make it work for dinosaurs, I had to make separate "divine" versions of each dino I added POWER to, giving them the INTELLIGENT tag, making them immortal by removing the MAXAGE tag, removing their ability to have children, and setting their appearance rates to 0.

Theoretically that means the divine dinos will only appear as deities for Neanderthal tribes. Hopefully, they'll only appear where other dinos of their kind exist. In practice, I'm willing to bet the humans will be trading in divine tyrannosaur leather ><.

This is just kind of a hack job anyway. I'd envisioned them worshiping a pantheon of dinosaurs, but that isn't possible at the moment; pantheons are hard-coded to appear to be the same race/species as the worshipers. So a Neanderthal pantheon would be made up of Neanderthals, not dinosaurs.

Hey Zurai, you should try designing an animist civilization with special people who are marked at birth to have a special connection to a spirit that guides them!

You should add Devil Dinosaur as a god.
