General Discussion / Re: I like anime, do you like anime?

Personally I don't find that transition off putting, even if the whole "peaceful simple cooking show" was the main attraction when I started watching it. I'm not sure how it will continue but so far I like most of the show.

The only transition I find really off putting is the fan service on every episode with Falin. It's not even that I'm prudish or something, it's just that the show will come to an abrupt halt just to show she has big tits.

The closest analog I can think are the codons (genetic code) where you have four "bases" A, G, C, U (for dna) and they are combined in groups of 3, resulting in 64 different combinations (4^3 = 64).

In a similar vein if the helldivers startegems use groups of four then there are already 4^4=256 different combinations. I guess that should be more than enough for the entire game.

Gog released God of War (2018) for PC, a couple of days ago and they have it on 50% discount (~25eur) until the end of the month.

Truth be told I was pretty relaxed and peaceful in my mind afterward, but that may as easily be the fact I didn't drink coffee to start the day, for the first time in.....I don't want to think how long.

I can't really speak for yourself or for the sensory deprivation thing but not drinking coffee after long term usage.. that usually results in the opposite of being relaxed. At least in my case, there were some times where even delaying my morning coffee resulted in headaches.

I'm not sure how the chain rule would be used here.

If I multiply the first equation with (- A/M) and then add the second would yield:

(-A/M)*[θG(h,t)/θh] + θX(h,t)/θt =0   (3)

which if I'm not wrong should integrate to

G(h,t) = (M/A)*{S[θX(h,t)/θt] dh - C1(t)}   (4)

I think I should then substitute G(h,t) in the second equation which yields

θX(h,t)/θt + M*X(h,t)*{S[θX(h,t)/θt] dh - C1(t)} = 0

But I'm not sure how I should continue from there without looping back to my initial system.

Almost in time for the yearly resurrection of this thread  :D

I'm having trouble tackling a system of first order partial differential equations so I'd be grateful if someone could guide me through a methodology on how to solve them. The system is in the form of:

  • θG(h,t)/θh + M*X(h,t)*G(h,t) = 0
  • θX(h,t)/θt + A*X(h,t)*G(h,t) = 0
  • A, M are constants

For what I know the system does have an analytical solution.

Not sure if I should post on the tv shows thread, but we already posted about the live action avatar here so..

First episode is out, I watched about half of it and will continue later. I got mixed feelings but it's too soon say if the show is good or bad overall. What stood out to me, is the decision to use the first episode (or at least its first half hour) for an exposition dump which felt overbearing to me. Perhaps it's because I already know that stuff but I think even people unfamiliar with the plot will find it too much to take in one sitting. To make matters worse in an episode chokefull of people explaining stuff, the dialogue feels kinda stiff and unnatural.

Edit: Nope. It's bad. Small changes are inevitable but this.. they even turned Suki from "a fierce warrior woman that beat respect into Sokka" to "A man from outside my village! Me so horny!"

I am incredibly depressed. My forum games are dead, my feelings are down, and I can't properly sleep at all. I've been doing nothing but play games, stim and spiral. Last time I spoke was 3 days ago. I hate myself. And I don't know what to do. I am such a mess.

I don't know what I think I am accomplishing by writing this, but I guess I just wanted someone to know. I am never able to tell with these things.

Be a cat. Take care of your depressed human.

It probably won't help but your post reminded me of this little game.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Can a Dwarf use a bow?
« on: February 08, 2024, 11:35:10 am »
I don't know if anything changed in v50+ but up to 47.05 dwarves could use bows if you got any somehow. The problem was that without any mods, the dwarves didn't know how to make arrows so you had to either import them through caravans or loot them from dead enemies.

(and then even if you somehow solved the arrow supply problem you had to deal with how ammo was assigned to hunters/marksdwarves...)

Bad. The answer is bad. It turns out that two dudes who barely know which end of the sword is supposed to be pointing at the enemy aren’t able to even scratch a competent opponent before he slashes them both to death.

Personally, I used to use a mod that allowed multiple people to attack the same target at the same time instead of the vanilla 1v1. Something like 2v1 (or 3v1) doesn't brake the game's balance* and it makes more sense with all those sweeping attacks that attack everyone they connect with.

*A strong opponent with decent equipment will still be able to kill a bunch of rookies but they won't leave the fight unscathed.

Interestingly i have sometime battled with AI warband that some members had an important injury (missing an arm or missing a leg, or missing an eye) , that's nice and give the illusion they don't only have the ridiculous advantages the devs game them over your own warband.

Yeah no unfair advantages...until that one armed fiend starts dodging like a slippery god because of it's newfound balance  :P

I'm not sure if the ai is just that simplistic or simply bugged. I remember a game, rather fondly despite the loss, where the last skaven unit (globadier or whatever it's called) had holed up on the top of some building and it managed to wipe my party (3 or 4 units) due to a combination of poison attacks and a lot of failed climbing rolls.

Mordheim had so much potential to become a truly great game, it's a shame that the devs abandoned it in its current state.
