Except the very act of finding the show "gay" is a slur, or might as well be. That was my point. There's no way you can find that show (or most shows, really) "gay" without there being some pretty serious homophobic/heteronormative tones to your thought process.

This means that the people this minority has annoyed associate the entire fandom with that minority, and so dislikes the entire fandom, even if the majority are much more mature and don't throw around MLP around in every single thread.

It sounds like it's a bad case of not telling bronies from trolls apart.

For example the brony community here on Bay12 seems fine and mature to me, they stayed and discussed MLP in their particular threads before the threads were banned, and didn't flood other threads with MLP jokes/references/jpgs/etc and the only problem I've really had with them are the fact that a lot of them have animated avatars, which distract me when trying to read.

I don't really agree. The brony community is a lot more expansive/accessible than the furry community, being much more numerous and, quite frankly, considered much more acceptable by the general Internet public. Also, a fairly large percentage of bronies seem to make it clear that they (one way or another), although I'm going by limited information; that's more an educated guess.

It was just a general example, a lot of the hate furries get is because of a minority trying to tie everything they interact with back to the fandom, at least, from what I've seen. Of course, there's other factors, especially on the furry side, but in terms of MLP, I do think it's a minority that have soured other people's perception of the fandom as a whole.

I find it odd that you consider the brony community here "fine and mature" while specifically mention how their threads were bad enough that not only did they have to be locked at least a few times in succession, but were outright banned afterward. How is that "fine and mature"?

I don't know, I haven't read any of the threads, and frankly don't even know why pony threads were banned. But from what I've seen, bronies on Bay12 don't throw MLP around in every single thread and only discuss MLP in MLP threads.

Bronies make me miss furries. It's like some wrathful deity heard all the exaggerated claims I used to make fun of furies, and punished me by creating a fandom that was actually that bad.

In fact I only continued to post because you dragged it on. First it did not want to comment on it but you continued to debate over a joke which wasn't even homophobic at all. It was a common joke. About a small horse . And it wasn't even related to the ponies from the show. So i recommend we both leave things as they are and forget it. Also I am sorry if I acted homophobic from your point of view.

Well, after watching two seasons, this is one homosexual that considers the show 'gay', at least in the classical Maypole/Flowers/Bright Pastel, completely non-sexual sense.

Also, Bronies are just a sub-type of Furry. If you are a big fan of any anthropomorphic mammals (aside from, ya'know, anthropomorphic humans...), you're a Furry.
