In the words of Voltaire: "I may not agree with what you said, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

That fits here, more or less IMO. I don't watch MLP, but that doesn't mean I should actively oppose it, and people should have right to watch it in peace. It's the same stance I have with religion: People have their right to it, just don't force it on me. The difference is that religion is forced on others more often than MLP.

On religion being forced on others...
"There is no such thing as a Christian child, there is only a child of Christian parents."
    -Richard Dawkins

I understand that this is not supposed to be a religious discussion of course, so lets just get back to debating MLP and it's fanbase.

Why do you people refer every post to yourself? I am just saying ponies are gay and not people watchig the show are gay. I think I am insulting nobody, not even a "brony", or do your consider yourself being a ponie?  :D
However, I'm outta here.

So...

...Much

Failure...

I'm sorry, would you like to restructure that sentence?
NO-ONE is insulted if you find the show gay. No one's pressing you for it. But when you start using it as a slur, I don't know, some might perceive it as a tad bit homophobic.

I'm pretty sure that he is troll by now, let's just ignore him. I see no possible way for anyone to seriously argue like that. Especially on this forum.

No I am not trolling anybody, I think there is only a little language barrier because I am german  ;)
Maybe I exaggerated a little bit in my posts, so I'm sorry if I insulted somebody.

Two of the posts you quoted as examples of hatred are mine, and I already stated clearly I don't hate fans of the show, I just don't care for hearing about it here.

Then leave this thread.

I don't feel this thread is appropriate for this forum; this isn't the place to discuss My Little Pony.

If "I'm not interested in hearing about your favorite tv show" constitutes hatred to you, you are entirely too sensitive.

I'm not insulted, I'm not even mad, I'm just saying if you're going to leave snarky comments, keep it to yourself or summarize it in a constructive way to the people it matters to. You've just gone up and said that every brony has an OCD requiring them to seek attention from everyone on the internet, and that there's something wrong with them forming communities, and that justifies hate. Fan culture? Guess what sustains it? You seem to not get it at all.

If you haven't noticed, rule 85.

I haven't said that; you're attributing things over people have said to me.  I don't even feel I've been snarky; I was surprised to see how many MLP fans are around here these days, it does make me feel strangely out of place, and I don't see how either statement is snarky or insulting.

But still, the only pony threads in the whole entirety of this forum are this one, another one for the MLP mod and maybe 1 or 2 Community Forts. You could easily avoid these threads, there are many more threads without ponies than with. Also, as I already said, some of the things you state just feel extremely hateful and completly unjustified.

These threads were created by bronies for bronies and no one is trying to get the attention of any non-bronies, neither are we trying to force the show on anyone. Please don't assume we do. But we do want to be able to talk about it in peace. So please let us.

Long story short, if you have anything worthwhile to say, there's a forum for that. If you don't have anything worthwhile to say, well, don't say it.

Please don't assume that I find your forum worthwhile or a good place to say whatever it is I have to say. I don't necessarily have to like whatever forum you're evangelizing. Sorry. And no, I'm not worried about my "reputation" or people associating me with anything; that has nothing to do with it.

I'm sorry, would you like to restructure that sentence?

I am, because calling a television show "gay", in an insulting manner no less, is pretty homophobic and insulting in itself.

I'm not sure how anything I've said could be construed to be hateful, let alone extremely so.

Except the very act of finding the show "gay" is a slur, or might as well be. That was my point. There's no way you can find that show (or most shows, really) "gay" without there being some pretty serious homophobic/heteronormative tones to your thought process.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anyway, I don't think a meeting between ponies and dwarves would result in instant war and pony mittens.

1. Ponies like parties, dwarves like parties.

2. Ponies like cider, dwarves like beer.

3. Some unicorns have an ability to find gems, but they don't value them as much as dwarves do.

Although, I can see dwarves fighting against diamond dogs over the whole underground territory thing.

Personally, I think bronies are a lot like furries (now I know what you're going to say, but hear me out), not in their content and ideas, obviously, but because a small minority take it too seriously and feel the need to throw it around everywhere and try to show it to everyone even when it's not appropriate for the thread/forum and the people are clearly not interested. This means that the people this minority has annoyed associate the entire fandom with that minority, and so dislikes the entire fandom, even if the majority are much more mature and don't throw around MLP around in every single thread.

For example the brony community here on Bay12 seems fine and mature to me, they stayed and discussed MLP in their particular threads before the threads were banned, and didn't flood other threads with MLP jokes/references/jpgs/etc and the only problem I've really had with them are the fact that a lot of them have animated avatars, which distract me when trying to read. :P

I don't really agree. The brony community is a lot more expansive/accessible than the furry community, being much more numerous and, quite frankly, considered much more acceptable by the general Internet public. Also, a fairly large percentage of bronies seem to make it clear that they (one way or another), although I'm going by limited information; that's more an educated guess.

I find it odd that you consider the brony community here "fine and mature" while specifically mention how their threads were bad enough that not only did they have to be locked at least a few times in succession, but were outright banned afterward. How is that "fine and mature"?
