Toaster could barely keep the grin off his face as he grabbed the last few things out of his storage locker.  Doubled cargo space at the cost of that unused crew berth?  Finally fixing that damn ammo generator to work right?  A turbo booster as icing on the cake?  It must be the thrill of racing- he worked all that day like he never had before the race started.

He hopped into the driver's seat and started the ignition sequence- he'd be getting the clearance to leave shortly.  Steve sent the signal that all systems were go.  That other guy (what was his name?) settled in for his usual nap.  Eventually, something might need to be done about him, but not now.

He gripped the throttle, and prepared to launch...

Tyrin hopped out of the cockpit and inspected his ship once more. It needed an upgrade. He glanced around, there was Monk and his ship, too. A brief reprieve from the race, he nodded a greeting to the man. They were last, it was time to take back the race.

He checked the viewscreen hung near the hangar entrance. By the Machine God, Jack Dandy was so far ahead, he could just wait out a couple of turns and blast those running at his behind.

Yep, he really needed an upgrade.

"Hey, mechanic, could you-..."

A wicked smile spread across Lukes face as he puts the finishing touches to his race machine, flipping the welding mask up to give it a look over. It's beautiful. Jumping back into the the Red Wrecker and blasts off away from the increasingly populated maintenance. That starrunner has seen it'd last days in the sky

I read tv tropes before. I was just busy. Didn't really want to do much numbercrushing.( Really there are an awful lot of numbers involved in this game)
